Job Purpose:

The Senior Protection Officer is responsible for designing and implementing protection programs and activities in alignment with project objectives and donor requirements. This includes initiatives related to child protection, gender-based violence (GBV), prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), access to justice, and community-based protection mechanisms.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to database and information management teams, ensuring proper data collection, storage, and use for reporting and program monitoring.
  • Track progress against project activities and outputs, adjusting work plans as needed to achieve targets effectively.
  • Manage cases of vulnerable individuals affected by conflict, ensuring appropriate interventions.
  • Conduct awareness sessions and counseling for children, youth, families, and communities on protection issues.
  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, mid-term, and final reports to the project manager.
  • Document challenges, difficulties, and success stories encountered during project implementation.
  • Oversee protection monitors and activities in the field.
  • Establish and coordinate with community-based protection networks (CBPNs).
  • Assist field teams in identifying key protection concerns for reports and advocacy purposes.
  • Facilitate coordination between stakeholders, including NGOs, UN agencies, donors, and government entities.
  • Support field teams in collecting and compiling reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting training sessions for partners and government representatives.
  • Maintain a log of training sessions and relevant events.
  • Verify and investigate emergency protection cases and rent subsidies, collecting necessary documentation.
  • Identify and refer vulnerable individuals in need of specialized services based on collected data.
  • Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly reports to identify key achievements, challenges, and advocacy priorities.
  • Attend relevant protection sector meetings and contribute to discussions on policy and implementation.
  • Coordinate with CCCM teams to ensure integrated approaches in protection-related activities.
  • Lead and manage weekly and monthly team meetings, providing guidance and support to field staff.
  • Participate in bi-weekly coordination meetings at the field office.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Psychology, Social Work, English Language or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Psychology, Social Work, English Language or related field.At least three years of experience in protection, GBV, or psychological support, preferably with NGOs.
  • Experience in community mobilization and capacity building.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven experience leading field teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and flexibility in a challenging work environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and spoken skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Ability to travel frequently to field sites as required.
  • Experience in data collection, entry, and reporting.
  • Cross-cultural awareness and insight into protection issues.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Candidates with a medical background are preferred.
