FHI 360 has been responding to the humanitarian crisis in southern Yemen and along the Western Coast since 2018. Through an integrated health, nutrition, and WASH program, FHI 360 works in Aden, Taiz, and Hudaydah governorates. FHI 360 supports static and mobile health facilities, including rehabilitation, technical support and staff training, and provision of supplies. FHI 360 also works at the community level through health and WASH components to reach additional populations. Furthermore, since January 2020, FHI 360 has served as the NGO co-lead for the Aden Sub-Health Cluster. With a country office in Aden and a field office in Mokha, FHI 360 has a team of 50 national and expatriate staff.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the Admin Officer, the Cleaner will be responsible for cleaning the office buildings using infection prevention and control (IPC) measures and ensuring a hygienic and safe work environment for all staff. On a daily basis fill the water dispenser bottles. The Cleaner shall also maintain the exterior compound area, including care for the staff well being space.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES
- Clean the office buildings including sweeping and mopping the floors, cleaning the lavatories, dusting and polishing the furniture, emptying wastepaper baskets, rubbish bins, cleaning the windows, sweeping and maintaining the compound grounds
- Fill the drinking water for the water dispensers before office closure daily
- Vacuum the windowsills and clean the ceiling fans per the established cleaning routine
- Restock hygiene supplies in the lavatories including hand soap, toilet paper, and bars of soap
- Report maintenance needs for both the office and exterior premises to the Admin Officer
- Maintain the beverage stations in the office in a clean and tidy manner and ensuring tea/coffee/sugar are available and stored according to the established system
- Coordinate with the Admin Officer for the management of needed cleaning supplies
- Any other duty assigned by the supervisor
APPLIED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Understanding of infection prevention and control (IPC) and hygiene.
- Understanding of using standard cleaning equipment including a vacuum and power washer
- Capacity to handle unexpected cleaning issues, which may include excessive water due to a broken pipe or toilet overflowing, dust storm, broken cups and spilled beverages.
- Complying with safety protocols, including safe handling of cleaning materials.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with administrative staff
- Approachability and professionalism in addressing maintenance requests and concerns.
- Collaborative mindset to work effectively with other departments.
Education and Experience
- Experience in a similar role, preferably with an NGO for 1-2 years
- Ability to lift objects up to 15 Kgs multiple times a day; able to work standing for extended number of hours.
