Job Description


Communication officer

  • Location:  Aden/Lahj Governorates (with regular travel to other sites)
  • Period: 7 months, renewable subject to performance.
  • Duty Station: Life Makers Meeting Place Organization (LMMPO), Aden/Lahj –Yemen.
  • Terms: Full Time Position (8 Eight hours per working day), with field visits to the work sites.
  • Classification: Grant & communication Management.
  • Expected start Date: 01-08-2025.
  • Job grade: - Fourth degree.

LMMPO is keen to have a competent candidate to fill the position of Communication officer.

Project Planning

  • Responsible for entering and submitting the project reports and required documents electronically in the system.
  • Follow up the outputs and ensure their completeness by applying the effective communication using different tools of communications with the related departments
  • Participation in attending the meetings of the humanitarian blocs
  • Filling out questionnaires related to the humanitarian situation related to the project
  • Developing and promoting key hygiene messages within the target locations
  • Assist in documenting all project activities including success stories, Preparing and designing various reports for the project, whether: prints or posts for social media, interview beneficiaries during project activities and write success stories of the projects.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Project Communication Officer: 

1.    Ensure effective and high-quality implementation of project activities in line with the donor rules and regulations.
2.    Coordinate with relevant LMMPO administrative units to ensure efficient execution of project activities.
3.    Lead the project team by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
4.    Monitor project expenditures and ensure compliance with the approved budget.
5.    Seek approvals for budget modifications in consultation with the senior engineer and finance team.
6.    Serve as the Focal Point for communication with the donor, ensuring smooth information flow and alignment with the donor requirements.
7.    Lead stakeholder engagement efforts to build relationships, ensure collaboration, and address concerns.
8.    Oversee MEAL activities to track project progress, measure impact, and ensure accountability.
9.    Ensure the project’s sustainability and impact through effective monitoring and evaluation.
10.    Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with the project.
11.    Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
12.    Prepare and submit project reports, including progress reports, activity reports, and final narrative reports.
13.    Ensure all reports align with LMMPO and the donor standards and requirements.
14.    Provide strong leadership to enhance project outcomes in areas such as food security, agriculture, water governance, empowerment, and economic resilience.
15.    Leverage extensive experience and qualifications to guide the project team and stakeholders effectively.
16.    Ensure all project activities comply with the donor rules, regulations, and best practices.
17.    Maintain high-quality standards in project implementation and deliverables.
18.    Focus on ensuring the long-term sustainability and impact of the project.
19.    Work towards achieving the project’s goals and objectives in a manner that benefits the target communities.
20.    Lead, motivate, and manage the project team to ensure high performance and collaboration.
21.    Foster a positive and productive working environment.
22.    Any other tasks related to the project.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor Degree in the directly related field, such as Journalism, Media/Communications or Literature.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in an international NGO, preferably in an emergency or post-conflict setting, working in communications.

Languages:

  • Fluent in Arabic and English (Speaking and Writing).

Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge and experience managing social media accounts.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience drafting materials for traditional media.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with photography and videography, including video editing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups through training, mentoring and other formal and non-formal methods.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively.
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural contexts.
  • Proven ability of using office project system.
