General information on the mission
PU-AMI’s Context & strategy:
Première Urgence - Aide Médicale Internationale (PU-AMI) is an international, non-profit, non-political, and non-religious humanitarian organization which aims to provide rapid global response to the basic needs of populations affected by humanitarian crises to help them regain independence and dignity. PU-AMI provides assistance to more than 6 million people throughout 24 countries, with more than 2,500 staff worldwide.
PU-AMI adopts an integrated approach, to identify and understand the full array of the needs of the people affected by crises. This innovative approach is at the core of every PU-AMI-supported projects, to better target and prioritize actions, stabilize and improve the situation of the most vulnerable groups. It allows the teams to take all aspects of a problem into account, to come up with an efficient combination of solutions, which will have a powerful and long-lasting impact on the affected populations. In this respect, the organization runs around 190 projects a year worldwide, most of which are focused on Health, Nutrition, Food Security, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Psychosocial Support, Education and Protection activities.
In Yemen, PU-AMI is supporting 18 health facilities (Health Centers, Health Units and Therapeutic Feeding Centers) in four Districts in Hodeidah (Al Mighlaf, As Sukhnah, Al Mansuriyah and Al Qanawis), three Districts in Raymah (Bilad At Ta’am, Al Jabin and Mazhar) and two Districts in Taizz (Al Mokha and Mawza). PU-AMI’s operations are managed by two field offices in Hodeidah and Mokha cities, both supported by the Sana’a coordination office. PU-AMI recently established a second coordination office in Aden.
PU-AMI is participating actively in clusters and sub-clusters (health; nutrition; food security and livelihoods; WASH) and works closely with relevant government departments.
Overall objective
Under management of the HR Assistant, the cook and cleaner execute the cooking and housekeeping for the office and the guest house. He/she cleans and tidies up the house in order to ensure that the areas are in good cleaning conditions
Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Prepare the meals for the staff and Guest House and do related grocery shopping
2. Clean PU-AMI Office and Guesthouse according to standards and requests from the HR Assistant.
Specific Goals and Related Activities
1. Prepare the meals:
- Ensure the preparation of diverse meals, breakfast lunch, and dinner for Staff and expatriate staff
- Provides diverse and healthy meals, including local and international food.
- Ensure that meals are served on time: he/she sets the table before every meal and cleans up afterwards for lunch.
- Control the stock of food and prepares the shopping list in collaboration with the line manager.
- Respect the food budget given to her/him by the line manager.
- Purchase the ingredients for meals and purchases basic items when requested to by expatriates.
- Ensure the cleanliness of all facilities, utensils and equipment.
- Ensure the provision of drinkable water.
- Follow at all-time hygiene standards and security rules.
- Look after all equipment provided (including plates, glasses, cutlery, cookware, etc) and reports any missing or damaged item to the supervisor.
2. Clean Office and Guesthouse:
General tasks in all premises (Office/Guesthouse):
- Cleaning and polishing all desks, floors, cupboards, shelves, work surface and filing cabinets.
- Sweep all rooms, dust desks and furniture on a daily basis
- Mop the floor and to clean windows and panes (inside & outside) when deemed necessary.
- Sweep and/or Mop the stairwell at least once a week.
- Collect garbage of dustbins on a daily basis and to take the rubbish out when deemed necessary.
- Clean and disinfect refrigerator when deemed necessary or at least on a bi-monthly basis.
- Defrost the refrigerator when deemed necessary or at least twice a year.
- Change and wash regularly towels
- Wash the curtains when deemed necessary
- Wash dishes regularly
Specific tasks related to Guesthouse and Expatriates:
- Change bedsheets and towels when deemed necessary of at least once a week.
- Wash clothes and bedsheets.
- Wash by hand when specifically told.
- Iron expatriate staff’s clothes when required
In General, the Cook/Cleaner has to remain flexible and to perform other duties as required for the good running of the mission.
