Working under the overall supervision of the Programme Manager (Shelter and Settlement), the field coordinator, the Project Officer and the direct supervision of the Senior Operations Associate, the Project Associate (Shelter and Settlements) will support the implementation of Shelter and Settlements day to day activities directly in the field.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

1.    Assist with the implementation of Shelter and Settlements activities related to the project assigned, conducting day-to-day activities, including assessments, distributions, and verification processes,
2.    Support the administrative coordination of need assessments, focus group discussions, and community engagement activities with affected communities and beneficiaries, in coordination with the Senior Operations Associate, maintaining positive relationships with beneficiaries, community representatives, community leaders, to facilitate IOM’s work at the field level.
3.    Collect and and submit assessment, distribution, focus group discussion (FGD), and daily progress reports, verifying accuracy and timely delivery to supervisors.
4.    Assist in monitoring the effectiveness of Shelter and Settlements activities to verify they are in line with the activity scope, requirements, and conditions of the contract agreement. Report any irregularities or quality issues immediately to the Senior Operations Associate.
5.    Provide administrative support to the Senior Operations Associate, including assistance with preparing Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and other operational needs for Shelter and Settlements activities as requested.
6.    Consolidate field data related to the assigned activities and assist with activity updates and reports as requested.
7.    Monitor that all required data and documents are accurately collected for assigned activities, maintaining a systematic and organized record of beneficiary and project-related documents.
8.    Capture and document success stories and other impact-related content for the assigned activities.
9.    as focal point for hourly/daily site assistants as needed, maintaining accurate tracking of attendance and timely remuneration in line with established procedures.
10.    Perform any other duties as may be assigned to support the effective implementation of Shelter and Settlements activities.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education:

1.    Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Procurement and Logistics or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
2.    High School diploma from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience:

  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
  • Experience in shelter and settlements projects is an advantage.
  • Experience use of Microsoft Office such as Excel, PowerPoint, and other software.
  • Good organizational and administrative skills
  • Statistical analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of electronic survey tools (Kobo).

LANGUAGES:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

  • This selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible to be appointed in a similar position for a period of 24 months.
