Mission/ Core Purpose of the Job
The mission of a Core IT Network job is to provide a stable, efficient, and secure infrastructure that supports the organization's communication needs, enables business operations, and drives innovation.
Responsibilities
The Key Performance Areas (KPAs) for an IT Core Network Engineer typically include:
- Installation and Configuration of Equipment: Network engineers select, install, and configure important network infrastructure equipment, such as routers, servers, Firewalls, proxies, MPLS, load balancers.
- Troubleshooting and Monitoring: If part of the network infrastructure is running slow or completely down, the network engineer is usually the first to respond and make any necessary changes.
- Network Documentation and Policy Management: Network engineers manage documentation for how the network functions and is configured, and its expected user interactions.
- Network Design and Infrastructure: It's critical that network engineers know how to build a functional network for an enterprise, small business, or startup.
- Firewalls: Network engineers are responsible for establishing and maintaining secure networks.
- Scripting and Programming Languages: These engineers use scripting and programming languages to build and maintain networks.
- Performing Disaster Recovery Operations and Data Backups: This involves performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.
- Protecting Data, Software, and Hardware: This involves coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures.
- Network Performance Monitoring: This involves monitoring network performance to decide whether any changes are required.
- Performs network planning, design, and implementation to develop effective network operation and ensure performance and security.
- Deploy and configure network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Implement and maintain robust network security protocols to safeguard data and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including network backups, software updates, and patch management.
- Monitor network performance, bandwidth utilization, and traffic patterns with troubleshoot, identify, and resolve network, performance and bottlenecks issues.
- Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and incident reports with provide technical support to end-users for network-related issues.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for IT network.
Job Requirement:
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in computer science, computer networking, related field, relevant IT certifications.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience designing, managing, and working directly with networks and related computer hardware/software;
- Experience and Knowledge working with carrier Ethernet and IPv4/IPv6 networks: switching and routing protocols including DNA, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and MPLS - Network services including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, NTP, POE, RAS, VPN, WiFi, and clouding service (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS) for both IPv4/IPv6
- Experience and Knowledge on all network products of Cisco, Huawei, Fortinet, palo alt, Sophos, juniper, Nvidia, Dlink with deep expertise on Cisco (ISE, Catalyst, Nexus, NGFW, ISR, ASR)
Knowledge:
- Full Knowledge in IT core Network (LAN & WAN) , Routers, switches, Firewalls, clouding, Warless, MPLS, internet proxies, internet load-balancers also deep knowledge on all network equipment for Cisco , Huawei , Fortinet, HP, Dell pep-link, and so on.
- Excellent attention to detail and organization skills and ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
- Proven experience as a Network Administrator - 3-5 years of relevant experience

Technical Skills:
- An understanding of Internet Protocol (IPv4/IPv6) is crucial, as it is the unique number assigned to all devices connected to information technology.
- Ability to identify and rectify network issues is a key skill.
- Understanding of network design and infrastructure is critical.
- Comprehensive understanding of various types of firewalls and the policies and best practices for selecting, monitoring, and patching them.
- Comprehensive understanding of various types of routers and switches (2 & L3), (LAN & WAN)
- Ability to write custom scripts, perform database integration, and enable network virtualization.
- Ability to work effectively within a changing environment that is going through high growth
- Ability to independently manage diverse activities simultaneously, delivering on commitments and operating with speed, accuracy, and strong judgment.
