Role

The Consortium MEAL Coordinator, under the supervision of Consortium Project Manager, is responsible for the development of monitoring and evaluation plans, data management, indicator and result tracking and keeping records of project evidence for the FCDO funded Sustainable Pathways for Peace and Stability in Yemen project. The Consortium MEAL Officer will also ensure proper documentation and reporting of project activities and will work with the program team to ensure quality and timely delivery of project activities.

Core responsibilities

The main tasks include as follow:

I. Project Implementation

  • Responsible for quality project implementation and monitoring in accordance with Geneva Call and donor work plans, budget and procedures;  
  • Monitor and report on the implementation of all project activities, outputs and outcomes, submitting required reporting and documentation accurately and on time including supporting local partners in their reporting and ensuring their reports follow GC formats; 
  • Manage safe-keeping of information and knowledge, including filing of programme documents and materials;  
  • Collect and analyze information relating to the context, conflict situation, humanitarian needs and potential impact on Geneva Call’s work in project area(s) and relay this to the program coordinator, Consortium Project Manager and HoP;  
  • With the approval of Consortium Project Manager/Program Coordinator, release resources to partners/projects as per approved plans and agreements and reimbursement and/or liquidation of project expenditures;  
  • Monitor and report on all project expenses of budgets and available funding, including supporting documents;
  • Provide material (photos, videos, stories from the field) about the project and timely reports to showcase project outcomes and achievements; 
  • Support implementation of communications strategy including the production of external communication materials, activities, campaigns, events and other initiatives

II. Security

  • In coordination with security focal point of the country programme: 
  • Ensure adherence to GC’s security policies and protocols;
  • Support regular assessments of the security situation vis-à-vis the project, project partners, beneficiaries and GC, preparing risk assessments and suggesting mitigating measures and following up on incidents as necessary;

III. Communications & External relations

  • In coordination with the Consortium Project Manager:
  • In coordination with the Program Coordinator and Consortium Project Manager, engage local and international organizations regularly;
  • Provide material (photos, videos, stories from the field) about the project and timely reports to showcase project outcomes and acheivements; 
  • Support implementation of communications strategy including the production of external communication materials, activities, campaigns, events and other initiatives

IV. Financial Management

  • Contribute to transparent and timely project-related financial management following GC protocols;

V. Human Resource Management

  • Develop annual objectives with the team and conduct quarterly review of the progress made towards achieving them. Also ensure development plans are in place for the direct report
  • Supervise and provide ongoing support, capacity development and mentoring to the M&E Assistant, to enable them to successfully perform in their positions, and supporting them to do the same with the staff they supervise.
  • Ensure staff well-being and care is prioritised and is an integral part of work;

VI. Others

  • Attend and represent GC as required at meetings and other fora of interest to the organisation as delegated or assigned;
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the line manager.

Main qualifications

Education

Completed degree of Higher Education in relevant field such as statistics, development studies, Political or Social Science, International Humanitarian Law or Human Rights or equivalent. 

Languages

Besides Arabic Excellent English is must for this role.

Experience and Technical knowledge required

  • 4+ years of experience of IT Tools (MS Office, Excel, email, KOBO); 
  • 4+ years of experience in project implementation, reporting, monitoring and research;
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of humanitarian work, research work, data management and assessments. 
  • 4+ years of experience of developing professional relationships with various stakeholders including armed actors and working in a neutral and objective manner;

Personal qualities

  • Good report writing, communication and presentational skills.
  • Organized personality for keeping more better records on various support processes matter.
  • Expert in IT Tools (MS Office, Excel, email, KOBO);
  • Advanced level knowledge of MS Excel and accounting systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to work with geographically remote individuals.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic: Written and spoken with demonstrable track record in presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding and respect for organizational principles and confidentiality.
  • Strong logic and organizational skills, flexibility, and adaptability to change.
  • Independent initiator, Leadership qualities and unwavering integrity. Can maintain confidentiality of records and information on support functions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Proven ability to work well with colleagues and partners from diverse ethnic/cultural backgrounds.
  • Accuracy and reliability, ability to reach results and meet deadlines under pressure.
