Job Description

The job description is mandatory for all positions within INTERSOS and shall be signed by the employee within the first week of employment. 

Purpose/objective of the position: 

Define, supervise, and monitor the implementation of all the IEC (Information, Education, 
Communication) Health Promotion activities in the project. Promote INTERSOS services, principles, protocols, and procedures to increase the awareness of the target population with health and Nutrition preventive activities and messages. 

Generic Duties: 

  • Contribute to defining and updating the CHNVs strategy and related activities through the definition of target population, campaigns, messages, activities, specific actions, etc.  
  • Ensure regular collaboration and coordination with INTERSOS and MoPHP field medical team, reporting to the medical team any information linked to the health situation of the population and the patients to guarantee that the Health Promotion is part of medical activities and contributes to the medical objectives of the project  

Specific Duties: 

  • Lead focus-group discussions with target groups and organize health awareness sessions to ensure the adequacy, relevance, broadcasting, and full awareness of the messages, ensuring they are worded pedagogically. 
  • Supervise IEC/HP team and their activities, in and outside health facilities, reporting difficulties and progress as well as adapting format and content when necessary. 
  • Supervise the Health Promotion team in terms of planning and organizing their work, supporting, evaluating, and coaching personnel, collecting reports reporting the activities and regularly visiting communities.  
  • Identify key actors (local authorities, local NGOs, traditional healers, formal or informal authorities) involved in prevention activities to support the dissemination of health information to the target population. 
  • Identify training needs and report to the supervisor. Provide on-the-job training and capacitystrengthening activities whenever needed.  
  •  Submitting regular reports on activities to the supervisor and Medical Team using the Intersos data collection Tool and supporting the field team on the reporting process (maintaining records, including photos and reports of sessions, meetings, and site visits). Report information and data about fears, concerns, rumors, and misconceptions in targeted communities. 
  • Any other duties  as assigned by the Medical activity Manager (MAM) and the Project Manager.  

Education: 

  • Minimum diploma in Medicine or in any other health sciences i.e. medical assistant, nurse, lab tech, pharmacist, Dentist. Desirable specialization or training in tropical medicine or public health and social behavior change communication is an added advantage.   

Professional experience  

  • Essential working experience in related jobs (health promotion, social work), social worker or promotion-related studies 
  • CHV training  
  • Essential computer literacy
