Position Summary / Job Brief:
The Mechanical Procurement Engineer is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process for mechanical systems and materials. This role requires a deep technical understanding of mechanical systems, robust vendor management skills, and strategic negotiation capabilities. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to develop procurement strategies that align with project objectives and drive value engineering, cost management, and quality assurance.
Required Education:
-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Required Experience & Certificates:
-5-7 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on mechanical systems or MEP projects in the construction industry.
-Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CPP) are preferred.
-Proven track record in sourcing, negotiating, and managing large-scale procurement contracts.
-Experience working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment is essential.
Required Skills:
-Strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment specifications, and relevant industry standards.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

-Language Proficiency: Fluency in English, French, and Arabic is required.
Tasks and Duties:
-Implement comprehensive procurement strategies for mechanical equipment and materials in line with project specifications and company objectives.
-Analyze project requirements, technical specifications, and market trends to source the most suitable suppliers and vendors.
-Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technical teams to ensure procurement activities support overall project timelines and budgets.
-Identify, evaluate, and qualify potential suppliers for mechanical systems and equipment.
-Lead negotiations to secure favorable terms, pricing, and contractual conditions, ensuring optimal quality and cost-effectiveness.
-Establish and nurture long-term relationships with key vendors, monitoring their performance against contractual obligations and industry benchmarks.
-Review technical specifications, drawings, and vendor proposals to confirm adherence to project requirements and applicable industry standards.
-Work with engineering teams to assess equipment compatibility, performance criteria, and lifecycle costs.
-Ensure all procurement activities comply with local, national, and international codes and standards.
-Conduct detailed cost analysis and benchmarking to secure competitive pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities.
-Apply value engineering principles to assess design alternatives and optimize material use without compromising quality or performance.
-Manage the procurement budget, track expenditures, and regularly report on cost performance and savings achieved.
-Prepare, review, and manage procurement contracts, purchase orders, and related documentation.
-Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, vendor agreements, and performance metrics.
-Collaborate with contract admin teams to ensure contract terms are adhered to, and risks are mitigated.
-Coordinate with project teams to align procurement schedules with construction timelines and overall project plans.
-Provide regular updates on procurement status, vendor performance, and potential issues to management and project stakeholders.
-Proactively resolve procurement-related issues, delays, or disputes to minimize project impacts
