Job Description

Position: External Procurement Officer
Location: Sana’a

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for managing, planning, coordinating and implementing the external procurement functions accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Manage company correspondence with foreign business partners.
  • Developing sound, cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used in the business.
  • Seek to improve all aspects of the supply chain department by reviewing current methodology and processes.
  • Exploring new markets, agencies and suppliers for import.
  • Develops and maintains long-term relationships with suppliers while promoting company initiatives and values.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and new products.
  • Compare available goods with industry trends to determine appropriate pricing.
  • Research and seek out the most cost-efficient procurement and shipment procedures and methods.
  • Coordination with the sales department for keeping a detailed database of available inventory and expected usage.
  • Communicate with the marketing, sales and finance functions to enable an efficient import process.
  • Follow up the logistical operations to ensure that shipments are received to the warehouses in proper quantities and at the specified time.
  • Booking the suitable shipment line according to the order requirements.
  • Preparing the required paperwork for the (finance department / transporters/ customs/ bank).
  • Follow up with all Clearance Procedures regarding Shipments.
  • Perform translation tasks.
  • Prepares monthly process reports covering import activities to be reviewed with the Direct manager.

Requirements & Skills

  • At least five years’ experience in external procurement department.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related studies.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of Purchasing principles and processes and Knowledge about international trade.
  • Accurate, attentive and able to concentrate under pressure.
  • Computer skills and efficient in working on various required software applications.
