Médecins Sans Frontières France is opening an internal and external RECRUITMENT for the following position:

WATSAN TECHNICIAN

Location: Aden MSF Hospital – behind Sadaqa Hospital. . 
Contract type: Fixed-Term 4 months contract
Reporting to: Logistics Team Leader/Watsan specialist

Main Purpose

Supporting the Logistics team Leader/Logistics manager in the implementation, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting of Water Hygiene Sanitation activities and infrastructure in the project according to MSF protocols, standards, and procedures in order to improve health and living conditions of the target population

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Carrying out tasks directly related to the Watsan activities such as construction and maintenance of infrastructures in the project according to MSF protocols and standards concerning the operation of water supply, waste management and excreta disposal, hygiene and infection control.
• Ensuring the cleaning and maintenance of the Watsan structures and when applicable, of the medical facilities.
• Identifying, recruiting, training and supervising daily labourers or hygiene agents for Watsan activities
• Informing the Watsan Supervisor of any difficulties, anomalies and problems that may affect the normal functioning of activities and tasks in his/her area of responsibility.
• Assisting the Watsan Supervisor in Watsan data collection and reporting, as well as maintaining updated files and records of assigned project activities
• Being responsible for equipment, tools, and consumables, verifying that they are safely used and maintained. Reporting to the supervisor any need of renewal and the weekly/monthly consumption

MSF Section/Context-Specific Accountabilities

• Participate with all round Tech team for conducting a regular PM for ID300 incinerator.
• Review and maintain the plumbing network within the project in Hospital.
• Support his/her supervisor to prepare BOQ and material orders relating to plumbing and Watsan items.
• Make use of the safety protection in place during the making of water treatment and preparing chlorine solution (glasses, short, gloves and mask)
• Making correctly chlorine solution.    
• Doing maintenance tasks for Dosatron and R.O System followed according to the checklist.   
• FRC check daily from different sources of water as per Watsan supervisor instruction.
• Check the turbidity at least once per month with the support of Watsan supervisor.
• Maintenance of water dispenser according to the maintenance protocol.
• Report all the issues about the water network and sewage network directly to his/her supervisor.    
• Monitoring the availability of the water in the water reservoirs, especially of the rooftop.
• Supervise and making sure that pumps and auto switch system is functional.
• Responsible for daily records, tools for water and chlorine consumption and making sure that the Watsan team has recorded correctly the amount of waste produced.

Requirements

    Education    Technical certification or proven background, desirable specialization in water and sanitation
    Experience    Previous experience in technical works
    Languages     Mission language essential, local language desirable
    Knowledge    Computer literacy
