Background

Jeel Albena Association for Humanitarian Development known as (JAAHD) is a National and Non-Governmental Association emerged in wake of the humanitarian crisis to help communities affected by conflict in Yemen. It provides emergency relief and direct assistance for the conflict-affected populations, IDPs, host communities, vulnerable groups and those people caught up in extraordinary life-threatening situations. JAAHD has a presence in Al Hudaydah, Hajjah, Almahweet & Raymah with the aim of building up protection capacities for people in displacement and finding durable solutions for them upon return.

General Summary:

This position involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring proper storage, inventory management, and distribution of materials. He will be responsible for receiving and inspecting all incoming shelter materials, including NFIs, Emergency Shelter Kits (ESKs), and Transitional Shelter Units (TSUs), verifying their quantity and quality against procurement specifications. He will maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records, conduct regular stock counts, and report on stock levels to ensure adequate supplies for project activities.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure smooth operations of warehouses and manage the receipt, dispatch, and inventory keeping of all goods that entered the storage facilities.
  • Receive all commodities at the warehouse by counterchecking the delivered commodities against the purchase order/delivery notes/waybills, inspect the quality of the goods upon delivery and reject inadequate, broken, lower quality and other items not meeting the requirements of the order, and send all the required reports to the line manager.
  • Interacts with suppliers in the receiving and inspection of goods – issues GRNs.
  • Work closely with the Shelter Officer, Field Engineer, and logistics team to coordinate the timely release of materials for distribution or construction activities.
  • Assist in preparing distribution plans and loading/offloading of materials for field activities.
  • Dispatch goods from the warehouse using appropriate JAAHD procedures, Stoke Release forms, Waybills and update Stock Records.
  • Prepare report of monthly stocks, end of grant stocks, fiscal year physical counts and other physical counts, as instructed by supervisor.
  • Generate the commodities movement waybills and gate passes.
  • Maintain accurate stock records using available stock cards and ensure proper filling of goods delivery notes / good receive notes and other warehouse-related documents.
  • Carry out periodic physical inventory as per warehousing management standards and keep both hard and soft copy records well updated.
  • Maintain the warehouse and stores area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Leading the casual workers at the warehouse.
  • Carry out any duty assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A university degree or diploma in management, accounting, or related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in storekeeping and managing warehouses, preferably in humanitarian NGOs.
  • Good acknowledgment in logistics/warehousing management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
  • Stock management skills.
  • Honest and trustworthy person.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work under pressure and under harsh living conditions.
