Job Description

  • Job Title: Health and Nutrition Field Assistant
  • Duty Station: Taiz
  • Contract Type: Full-time
  • Duration: 10 Months

Position Summary: The Health and Nutrition Field Assistant for Taiz will support the implementation of health and nutrition activities at the field level. Working closely with health workers, community nutrition volunteers (CHNVs), and stakeholders, the assistant ensures the efficient execution of health interventions such as screenings, referrals, and treatment programs in targeted areas. The role includes reporting on progress, challenges, and logistical issues, contributing to the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework. The assistant will also track the number of beneficiaries and assist in addressing any issues encountered during project activities.

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Implementation Oversight:

  • Supervise all health and nutrition activities in targeted districts, ensuring that all interventions are carried out effectively and in line with project goals.

2.    Coordination:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including the GHO, DHO, and other implementing partners, to ensure smooth project implementation.

3.    Resource Management:

  • Ensure health facilities and project implementation sites have the necessary inputs (e.g., drugs, medical supplies, vaccines) for quality program delivery.

4.    Supervision and Monitoring:

  • Conduct regular supportive supervision of static health facilities and mobile health and nutrition activities.
  • Submit detailed supervision reports with action points and follow up on them to ensure timely resolution of issues.

5.    Mobile Health and Nutrition Activities:

  • Organize and oversee mobile health activities, ensuring that schedules are maintained, supplies are available, and vaccines are distributed.

6.    Data and Reporting Tools:

  • Ensure the availability of registration books, reporting formats, beneficiary cards, and other necessary tools at all health facilities and mobile medical centers (MMCs).
  • Provide on-the-job training for staff on record-keeping and reporting formats.

7.    Capacity Building:

  • Provide technical support and training for healthcare workers (HCWs) and community health nutrition volunteers (CHNVs) to strengthen their capacity in health and nutrition activities.

8.    Community Engagement:

  • Conduct regular meetings with community leaders and health committees to obtain feedback on program quality and provide updates on activity progress.

9.    Additional Tasks:

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the line manager, contributing to the overall success of the health and nutrition program.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Medicine, Public Health, or a related medical field.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience in health and nutrition projects.
  • Certifications/Training: Previous training in CMAM (Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition), IMCI (Integrated Management of Childhood Illness), or MISP (Minimum Initial Service Package) is essential.
  • Experience in Coordination: Prior experience working with GHO, DHO, and community committees or leaders.

Skills:

  • Strong reporting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, especially in resource-constrained environments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Native Arabic with good written and spoken English.
