Abs Development Organization for woman and Child (ADO) is a well-established national, humanitarian, developmental, non-profit and non-governmental organization, founded in August 1996 by a group of Yemeni girls to provide a better life for women, children, and youths. ADO has been operating in Yemen for more than 28 years with an outstanding coverage to the deprived rural areas located on the coast of Tehama and other various areas in Yemen aiming to get rid of poverty and infectious diseases. Since its inception, ADO has implemented over 213 developmental and humanitarian projects. According to ADO latest cumulative statistics, by end of the year 2021, a total of  6,695,412 people were benefited from these interventions. Consequently, the organization has established itself among the most effective civil society organizations in Yemen that are working on issues related to livelihood, health, education, and WASH supporting women, children, and youth. Operating from its Headquarter office in Sana’a, and through its branch offices in Al-Hodeidah, Hajjah, Abs, Raymah Taiz and Aden, ADO provides educational, health, livelihood and WASH services to urban and rural communities. As ADO believes that women are the essence of life, it has devoted all its activities and programs to empower and educate women who will lead to a modern and just state. ADO also believes that protecting and caring for children will result in a prosperous future; free from crime and terrorism. Furthermore, ADO believes that youth are the potential and driving force of any modern civil society.

Position Overview    

The pharmacist will be responsible for controlling and supervising all medical and non-medical supplies within the project. This will include receiving the supplies from Logistic department at the level of warehouse, dispatching to targeted health facilities and districts warehouses from the central warehouse, controlling daily usage\ prescription\distribution of these supplies at the level of targeted health facilities. The pharmacist will be reporting to the Senior H/N Officer keeping him updated regarding supplies stock all over the project duration. He \ She will be managing the central warehouse and supervising the targeted health facilities pharmacists.

Job objectives/ Scop    

The pharmacist will be overall responsible for project pharmaceuticals management in ADO WHs and supported HFs. He/ She will supervise the field pharmacists in HFs and provide technical support in proper pharmaceutical storage. He/ She will conduct regular inventory for all medical and non-medical supplies and raise report.

Duties and Responsibilities and wight     

  • Ensure adherence to the health cluster\ WHO and ADO standards regarding drugs prescription control and rational Antibiotics usage.
  • Design clear guidelines for field health facilities’ pharmacists regarding supplies storage and distribution as per the health cluster\ ADO standards and provide them with the proper related technical support when needed.
  • Supervise the receipt of all medications, laboratory kits, solutions, disposable instruments and other medical and non-medical supplies related to the project from logistic department to ADO warehouse
  • Ensure keeping all the medical and non-medical supplies in ADO warehouses in its proper storage conditions to prevent occurrence of any damage or loss.
  • Design a detailed dispatch plan for the medical and non-medical supplies based on the actual project supplies quantity, actual field needs and project duration.
  • Ensure availability of buffer stock of essential items all over the project duration to prevent any interruption in services provision.
  • Deliver medical and non-medical supplies to the field health facilities on monthly basis as per the approved supply plan.
  • Precise recording of all supplies receipt \ dispatch using ADO formal records and documents.
  • Track all medical and non-medical supplies using well designed tracking tools from ADO warehouses to the end beneficiaries, with regular check of health facilities records to verify the tracked data.
  • Receive health facilities daily reports, review, verify and reflect them to the master tracking sheet ensuring strict follow up of field distribution of supplies and proper data archiving throughout the project duration.
  • Report to the line supervisor on a daily, weekly, biweekly and monthly manner on the supplies movement and stock balance using both statistical and narrative reports.
  • Conduct regular \ spot check and inventories on health facilities \ warehouses stocks and records to verify the reported data and ensure implementation of standards in storage and prescription processes.
  • Ensure smooth and proper archiving mechanism for the drugs disbursing documents for the whole project period.
  • Comply with ADO policies and procedures with respect to code of conduct, child protection, equal opportunities, security and safety, and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Commit to the humanitarian principles of strict neutrality, religious and political impartiality and non-discrimination.

Experience and Qualifications    

Minimum Education:

  • University degree in Pharmacy. 

Experience:

  • One year of relevant work experience including at least 6 months experience with NGOs.
  • Good communication skills in written and spoken English, with ability to write reports.
  • Excellent computer skill especially Word and Excel.
  • Willing to stay at field during the project period.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of maintaining strong relationships with team members, partners, and community leaders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently, managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes and data collection for reporting and feedback purposes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Cultural sensitivity, patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor; ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
  • Fluent in the local language(s); good in English is also highly beneficial.
