Background

The Society for Humanitarian Solidarity (SHS) is a nonprofit humanitarian NGO based in the in Aden, Yemen. It was founded in 1995.The SHS provides assistance to refugees and migrants who arrive in Yemen every year. The organization also assists the local community in Yemen. The NGO won the Nansen Refugee Award, dedicated by the UNCHR. SHS has partnerships with UNCHR, OCHA, and WFP.

Job objective:

The District officers for 17 districts in Shabwa, report to the Governorate Coordinator and will lead the implementation of project activities. He shall document daily attendance and submit updates of relevant activities at the end of the month at the district level. He shall be responsible for coordinating with local authorities and community leaders, and ensuring the smooth implementation of project interventions. The Coordinator will represent the project in all relevant stakeholder meetings/ coordination in the district.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Leading and supervising the district field team and following up with all activities.
  • Ensure all FDPs and warehouses are available and well-equipped with ORG standards.
  • Follow up on the arrival of commodities to the targeted FDP and ensure all waybills are issued and recorded.
  • Develop the necessary plans for the distribution process and adhere to them in coordination with community committees, distribution supervisors, and local authorities.
  • Conduct field visits and supervise the distribution points during the distribution process.
  • Coordinate between the various parties concerned with the project, such as partners, local authority, and community committees at the district level.
  • Represent the district in external meetings within the district.
  • Attend periodic meetings with the work team, assist in developing the team’s capabilities, and follow up on solving problems raised by beneficiaries.
  • Submit periodic reports (daily - weekly - monthly) in a timely manner to the governorate coordinator according to the forms designated for that purpose.
  • Regular follow-up of all project activities in close coordination with the monitoring and evaluation team.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to him by the governorate coordinator in the governorate or by the project management.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of previous experience in the same field.
  • Knowledge about food security intervention (In-kind and Cash distributions).
  • Willingness to devote full time to work.
  • Has a strong relationship with local authorities and community leaders.
  • The applicant should be one of the district residents (Preferable).

Skills and abilities:

  • Computer skills such MS office (Excel, Word).
  • Archiving and records control skills.
  • Must have communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Administrative skills (such as planning, organizing, monitoring, and evaluation).
  • High ability to make decisions and problems solving.
  • Capability to lead a work team.
