Background
The Society for Humanitarian Solidarity (SHS) is a nonprofit humanitarian NGO based in the in Aden, Yemen. It was founded in 1995.The SHS provides assistance to refugees and migrants who arrive in Yemen every year. The organization also assists the local community in Yemen. The NGO won the Nansen Refugee Award, dedicated by the UNCHR. SHS has partnerships with UNCHR, OCHA, and WFP.
JOB PURPOSE:
Working in the Finance Department under the direction of the Finance Assistant will assist in the processing and recording of payment transactions in timely and accurate manner.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Reviewing daily Payments/Transactions. Ensuring accurate calculation and proper authorization & documentation compliance with Donor procedures.
- Responsible for recording all entries at the system and ensure there will be no backlog and upload to Navigator daily.
- Prepare monthly Bank reconciliations.
- Prepare photocopies of vouchers and other supporting documents as required for the monthly reporting package to Finance Unit.
- Prepare checks or wire transfer requests based on fully approved documents and present to approved check-signers for review and signature.
- Responsible for maintain finance archiving room.
- Assist to Senior Finance Assistant during the close up of the month and preparing all necessary documents to be archived.
- Assist the Senior Finance Assistant in responding to audit inquiries.
- Assist in year-end process and submission of all relevant documents before the due date.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience
- Two or more years of bookkeeping, banking or cashiering experience.
- A degree in accounting or a relevant business field is desirable.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel.
- Accuracy in the processing of cash transactions, mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written English skills.
