Location:  Sana’a with frequent visits to Marib                        
Administrative supervisor: Health and Nutrition Officer
Reference:  24-19
Duration: Till December 31, 2024, renewable based on fund availability & performance

SUMMARY:

The field assistant (health) is responsible for supporting the implementation of project activities related to nutrition and health. She/he will train, supervise, and assist health workers and nutrition field staff to ensure the best possible nutrition and health services are delivered to targeted beneficiaries and evaluate statistics reports from health facilities.  She/he will work in constant collaboration with the ADRA Health and Nutrition officer, Health Coordinator and Nutrition Coordinator, local authorities, and community members to share nutrition/health issues to improve/promote the nutrition/health of the vulnerable groups from the targeted communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The “Field Assistant (Health)” will be responsible but not limited to:

  • Work closely with the team to ensure all children in the nutrition program receive care and treatment in accordance with MoPHP and nutrition cluster guidelines/protocol, including being weighed, measured, registered, and referred correctly and receiving food/treatment according to the national protocol
  • Supervise health activities in the supported communities and awareness-raising activities, particularly on health, nutrition, and hygiene practices.
  • Organizes and implements training for health workers In collaboration with MoPHP, to provide on-the-job support for both Health and Nutrition activities.
  • Assist the community outreach volunteers in conducting nutrition, health, and hygiene activities in both health facility and community settings, for various target groups.
  • Prepare and evaluate weekly, and monthly progress and statistic reports for submission to the Health and Nutrition Officer.
  • Report any problems promptly to the health and nutrition officer.
  • Ensure timely reporting of activities (narrative and data) by set deadlines.
  • Conduct daily visits to the supported health facilities to monitor the progress of the project activities and report any deviation to the supervisors.
  • Submitting the needs of supported health facilities to the health and nutrition officer.
  • Preparing monthly attendance sheets for health workers and payments and submitting them to the finance department in coordination with the health and nutrition officer.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Direct Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health & nutrition or equivalent; (nursing, midwifery and other medical qualification desirable) from any recognized institution.
  • At least One year of experience in the similar role in health and nutrition projects.
  • Has trained on CMAM/ICCM and experience in working on Nutrition & Health activities.
  • Understanding rights-based approaches and participatory concepts and practical experience in similar context. 
  • Ability to communicate and maintain tactful relations with community.
  • Ability to do the capacity building of CHVs, CHWs.
  • Flexible, adaptable, able to improvise and work in stressful environment.
  • Excellent English and Arabic Languages (Writing and speaking) are required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
