Casuals on Pay Per Day Basis

Background

Geneva Call is a neutral and impartial non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting respect for international humanitarian norms in armed conflict and other situations of violence. In situations of armed conflict, Geneva Call, as a neutral, impartial and independent international humanitarian organization, endeavours to strengthen the respect of humanitarian norms and principles by armed groups and de facto authorities, in order to improve the protection of civilians. 
Geneva Call conducts various types of activities including trainings, workshops, dialogue sessions, awareness sessions, ToTs, etc. in different governorates. This Terms of Reference (TOR) document has been prepared to outline the background and scope of work for the recruitment of Casuals. The organization recognizes the valuable contributions that Casuals  can make in supporting its mission and objectives. The purpose of this TOR is to provide potential Casuals with an overview of the organization, its goals, and the specific tasks and responsibilities associated with the Casuals that would work on a daily basis. 

Objectives

  • Assist the program team in day-to-day tasks when implementing activities of different sorts in different governorates. 
  • Facilitate the activity with the trainer and/or program team. 
  • Provide operational and logistical support in times of activities. 
  • Assist in field visits for the program team and perform field temporary tasks. 
  • Document activities by taking pictures and submitting activity reports. 

Scope of Work

Casuals from the All governorates are required.

Roles and Responsibilities

1.    Support Program Implementation: The Casual will assist the program team in the day-to-day tasks associated with implementing various activities in different governorates. This may include preparing materials, setting up venues, coordinating with participants, and ensuring the smooth execution of activities.
2.    Facilitate Activity Execution: The Casuals will actively support the trainers and/or program team during activities. This involves providing logistical support, managing participants' registration and attendance, facilitating group discussions or exercises, and assisting with any other necessary tasks to ensure the successful delivery of the activities.
3.    Operational and Logistical Support: The Casuals will provide operational and logistical support during times of activities. This includes coordinating equipment or material needs, and addressing any logistical challenges that may arise. The Casuals will work closely with the program team to ensure all necessary arrangements are in place.
4.    Documentation of Activities: The Casuals will play a vital role in documenting activities by taking photographs and submitting activity reports. This includes capturing key moments, interactions, and outcomes through photography, as well as preparing comprehensive reports that summarize the objectives, activities, and outcomes of each session or workshop. The Casual will ensure that all documentation adheres to the organization's guidelines and standards.
5.    Assist in performing Field Tasks: The Casual will support field visits and be willing to perform temporary tasks associated with field work. This may include accompanying the program team to different locations, assisting in conducting assessments or surveys, and providing support during field activities as required.
6.    Adhere to Organizational Policies: The Casuals will adhere to Geneva Call's policies, including maintaining neutrality, impartiality, and confidentiality while carrying out their duties. The Casuals will also follow the organization's code of conduct and ethical guidelines, treating all participants and stakeholders with respect and professionalism.

Methodology: 

  • Each governorate/area will include a specific number of Casuals. 
  • Casuals will work based on need and will be paid on pay per day basis. 

Expected Deliverables 

  • Submit accurate activity reports.
  • Submit field reports.  
  • Documentation including photographs and archiving.
  • Effective operational and logistical support. 

Budget:

  • The fee is $50 per day.

Selection Criteria:

  • Candidates should have a minimum educational qualification of completing secondary school or its equivalent.
  • Candidates should possess basic computer skills, including proficiency in common office software.
  • Relevant and previous experience in volunteering and/or facilitating activities. 
  • Strong organizational and logistical skills.
  • Report writing skills. 
  • Fluency in the local language and proficiency in English is preferred.
