Background
Jeel Albena Association for Humanitarian Development known as (JAAHD) is a National and Non-Governmental Association emerged in wake of the humanitarian crisis to help communities affected by conflict in Yemen. It provides emergency relief and direct assistance for the conflict-affected populations, IDPs, host communities, vulnerable groups and those people caught up in extraordinary life-threatening situations. JAAHD has a presence in Al Hudaydah, Hajjah, Almahweet & Raymah with the aim of building up protection capacities for people in displacement and finding durable solutions for them upon return.
General Summary:
The Field Monitor for Shelter and NFIs will support the implementation of shelter and non-food items (NFIs) project in Alluhayah, Al-Jarrahi, and Al-Hali districts - Al-Hodeidah Governorate. This role involves assisting in the planning, coordination, and monitoring of shelter and NFI activities to ensure they meet the needs of displaced populations, returnees, and host communities. She/He will ensure the smooth running of the project and identify gaps. She/He will ensure different gender and vulnerable minatory groups are represented and they participate in the established representation structures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct needs assessments for shelter and NFIs.
- Support the development and implementation of shelter and NFI plans.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of shelter and NFI projects.
- Responsible for timely and accurate input of data into Shelter databases and tools.
- Monitor project progress and report on key performance indicators.
- Ensure regular contact (physical or through phone calls) and collect area-specific information/updates from community focal points.
- Assist in identifying needs, service gaps and duplications in the targeted areas.
- Help facilitate awareness campaigns or information dissemination to IDP/Return populations using diverse methodologies, ensuring understanding by the IDP/Return community.
- Provide accurate and timely information that supports the drafting of weekly situation reports and other updates.
- Identify vulnerable families eligible for assistance according to established selection criteria.
- Participate in monitoring activities within the agreed timeframe and ensuring the quality and quantity of material is correct and according to the BoQs/DRWs/Specification.
- Promote best practices in shelter and NFI management.
- Support adherence to SOPs during implementation of various shelter and NFIs activities in the targeted areas.
- Liaise with local authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders at field level.
- Attend meetings with community leaders, local authority and other stakeholders at field level.
- Participate in field missions, rehabilitation activities monitoring, and technical assistance to beneficiaries.
- Document lessons learned and best practices.
- Adhere to JAAHD policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
- Ensure proper filing of documents.
- Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in civil/architecture engineering/social studies/ or any other related field.
- At least one year of experience working in a humanitarian/recovery context.
- Strong technical knowledge of shelter construction and NFI distribution.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Ability to rapidly understand the policy, strategic and institutional environment.
- Commitment to deadlines and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in response to changing needs.
- Capable of working collaborative with team members.
- Excellent analytical skills, observation and analysis capacity.
