Livestock Officer
Location: Hodeida Governorate \ Ad Durayhimi & Bayt Al Faqih Districts - (with regular travel to other sites).
Period: 4 months, renewable subject to performance.
Duty Station: Life Makers Meeting Place Organization (LMMPO), Hodeidah –Yemen.
Terms: Full Time Position (8 Eight hours per working day), with field visits to the work sites.

Expected start Date: 1-5-2025.
Job grade: - Fifth degree.

LMMPO is keen to have a competent candidate to fill the position of Livestock officer - Emergency Multi-sector Food, Livelihood and WASH
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
The Livestock Officer is responsible for planning and implementing livestock distribution activities under the supervision and guidance of the Project Manager, and in coordination and cooperation with the field project team, by performing the following:
- Develop a work plan and timelines for livestock distribution activities and obtain approval from the Project Manager.
- Coordinating with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to identify beneficiaries.
- Conducting field visits and selecting beneficiaries for livestock activities according to the criteria specified in the project proposal.
- Enter beneficiary data and maintain their records and identification according to approved procedures and the Project Manager's instructions.
- Ensuring that the selection of livestock complies with the Food Security Cluster's guidelines for livestock distribution.
- Providing technical support to the Support and Logistics Operations Department and providing schedules of quantities and specifications of livestock before the tender announcement.
- Preparing the required document templates at all stages of the activity and obtaining approval from the Project Manager.
- Ensuring the timely and effective implementation of livestock distribution activities by project objectives.
- Supervising the purchase of livestock, ensuring that quality standards are met in line with animal health and welfare guidelines.
- Ensuring the supply of livestock compatible with the local environmental conditions of the targeted areas (Al Hudaydah), such as climate, feed availability, disease resistance, and genetic strength to ensure survival and productivity.
- Selecting livestock distribution centers and quarantine locations according to animal health and welfare guidelines in coordination with the livestock supplier, veterinarian, and representative of the Agriculture Office in Al Hudaydah.
- Supervising the livestock quarantine, coordinating with the veterinarian and representative of the Agriculture Office in Al Hudaydah, and monitoring the safety of livestock quarantine procedures.
- Coordinating with the veterinarian and specialist from the Agriculture Office to conduct health checks on all livestock at all stages before distribution and submitting inspection reports to the project management.
- Supervising the distribution of livestock, ensuring that each beneficiary receives the correct type and quantity of livestock according to the project's objective.
- Ensuring proper documentation and reporting of distributed livestock, with a focus on tracking, record-keeping, and livestock delivery receipts for beneficiaries.
- Providing continuous technical support to beneficiaries as needed, in cooperation with field staff, and providing sound guidance for livestock rearing and growth after distribution.
- Supervising the implementation of training and awareness sessions for beneficiaries on livestock management and nutrition by the supplier by animal health and Food Security Cluster guidelines.
- Submitting periodic and progress reports to the Project Manager and documenting activity procedures on an ongoing basis.
- Performing any tasks assigned by the Project Manager.
Qualifications and Skills
Study and Training:
- bachelor degree in the field of Livestock Management.
- At least 5 years of experience in the same field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience working with local and international organizations in the same field.
- • Experience in multi-sector emergency food and livelihood assistance for the most vulnerable households, including internally displaced persons and host communities in Al Hudaydah Governorate.
- Languages:
- Preferably fluent in English (Speaking & Writing).

- Proven experience in training and educating livestock owners for a group of livestock owners.
