2. Job Profile
The Project Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating the implementation of all project activities, ensuring compliance, quality, and efficiency in delivering health and nutrition services.
This role will involve overseeing the entire project cycle, from planning and coordination to monitoring and reporting, in collaboration with multiple teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment with standards and project goals.
The project coordinator will work closely with the Program Manager to lead program implementation, foster relationships with local and national stakeholders, and ensure effective, integrated support across WASH, protection, and health initiatives.
3. Key responsibilities
Context Background
- Operate within high-stakes emergency and humanitarian contexts where adaptability is key.
- Oversee field teams to deliver services that comply with national and international standards.
- Ensure project alignment with local and international guidelines, adapting to any security constraints.
- Coordinate and collaborate with government health offices (GHO, DHO) to facilitate integrated service delivery.
- Maintain an awareness of field-level security policies and enforce strict adherence to security protocols.
Relationships Management
- Build and maintain strong relations with local health officials, field staff, and other key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with WASH engineers, protection teams, and other sectoral leads to deliver integrated programming.
- Maintain regular communication with donors, ensuring compliance with their guidelines.
- Nurture partnerships with community structures and stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
- Liaise with the Program Manager and external partners to ensure a cohesive approach across projects.
- Participate in relevant sub-coordination meetings/clusters, participate in collaboration and building strong relationships with other implementing partners in the area of assignment.
- Support local program supervision visits from donors, GHO, MoH or authorities or any other relevant parties as assigned by the Program Manager.
Key Deliverables
Program Implementation:
- Ensure high-quality execution of project activities, establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all teams.
- Provide overall management and oversight for implementation of the health and nutrition program activities at the field level.
- Ensure quality and timely field level implementation of the Health and Nutrition program, against set objectives, targets, work plans, budget and in line with RI/MoHE/International standards
- Work closely with the Information Management Officer to review program reporting indicators and reporting tools and ensure program targets are met using indicator / activity tracking tables.
- Work constructively with support and grant teams to ensure sound administrative practices with regards to record keeping, compliance with donor regulations, communications, etc.
Program Development and Technical Oversight:
- Manage inventory, prevent medication shortages, and ensure the availability of a holistic service package.
- Coordinate patient referrals following RI guidelines and ensure service alignment with protection and WASH initiatives.
- Work closely with Program Manager and Health and Nutrition Technical Advisor to draft supervision guidelines to ensure quality delivery of services at targeted health facilities.
- Participate in drafting and revision of treatment protocols and ensuring that implementation is in accordance national guidelines.
- Conduct field assessments, identifying potential needs, designing and implementing response plans
- In consultation with Program Manager and technical leads, contribute to development of project proposals and project budgets.
Staff Development and Capacity Building:
- Hire, train, and supervise field staff, promoting continuous professional growth.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set annual objectives, and offer coaching for team skill enhancement.
- conducting regular filed supportive supervision, and provide on-the-job training for program staff and health facility workers.
Budget Management:
- Develop and monitor project expenditure plans, ensuring compliance with donor financial guidelines.
- Analyze budget vs. actual expenditures and make adjustments to stay within financial limits.
Reporting:
- Prepare and submit all required internal, external (including reports to local authorities) and donor reports, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly updates.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by direct supervisor.
Management and leadership
- Follow closely the team activities at field level ensuring the quality of the provided services, and the achievement of the project indicators.
- Collect and review the data collected from the field before sharing it with the HIMO.
- Ensure that the process of referring the complicated cases are aligned with the RI referral SOP.
- Prepare the performance review for the RI field staff.
- Ensure the highest standards of behavior inside and outside of work promotes the values in RI’s code of conduct and safeguarding policies.

- Ensure own actions and the actions of the teams’ members they manage do not adversely impact the safety of the RI team and the vulnerable communities we serve.

4. Job Requirements
Essential criteria
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nutrition, or any health/nutrition-related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Science, or a related field with a minimum of 4 years of experience in implementing Health and Nutrition interventions.
- Experience: At least 4 years of professional experience in managing emergency response programs within conflict settings, including 2 years in implementing Health and Nutrition interventions in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of program cycle management and matrix organizational structure.
- Proven skills in financial and budget management, including proficiency in creating expenditure plans.
- Leadership experience in managing and mentoring a diverse team.
- Strong analytical skills for data review and interpretation to enhance programming.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness, time management, and meticulous attention to detail.
Desirable Criteria

- Familiarity with WASH, sexual reproductive health, and protection programs.
- Working knowledge of donor compliance and reporting requirements.
