Its programs are supported by USAID, BHA, The Japan Platform, DANIDA, GFFO, BMZ, IHA Canada, UNOCHA, and WFP It has presence in 12 Governorates in Yemen responding to 8 areas of humanitarian sectors. ADRA Yemen is undertaking programs in Yemen in the fields of health, nutrition, WASH, food security, livelihoods, and protection.

SUMMARY:

ADRA Yemen aims to establish strong partnerships with its donors by meeting their specific visibility and communication requirements through better designs and quality products. Also, to contribute to ADRA Yemen’s effort to have better quality designs, photos, and story materials for all its visibility and communication materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The “Communication and Advocacy Assistant” will be responsible but not limited to: 

  • Support with information and data l for reports and publications.
  • Implement the graphic guidelines in all ADRA Yemen communication products.
  • Improve and edit artwork, photos, charts, and other graphic elements for presentations.
  • facilitate the printing and distribution of materials created by the department (t-shirts, banners, posters, booklets, leaflets, books, bulletins, flyers, cards)
  • Propose and facilitate the creative content for social media platforms
  • Ensure the visibility of ADRA Yemen and the Donor in the field, on banners, packaging of goods, and staff uniforms
  • Upon request, the Communications Assistant can travel to the field to cover activities, ensure visibility, interview for social media content, and take photos for graphic projects.
  • Provide specific details such as geographical location, name of the person in the photo, and time of photo taken, for each photo;
  • Take high-resolution photographs (and provide basic info on where and when photos are taken, in line with the Description of duties);
  • Select best photographs related to each task (no less than 30) in consultation with ADRA Yemen Communications Unit;
  • Photographs shall be provided in raw format and optimized resolution to ADRA Yemen on an external memory medium or via file transfer service;
  • Photographs must be provided in high quality suitable for printing, processing, or publishing on the web;
  • Work in close cooperation with and report to the ADRA Yemen Communications Unit.
  • Captions should be embedded in the jpeg images and provided in a separate text document.
  • Set up audio, and video equipment for interior and exterior location shoots,
  • Set up lighting as required/if any, to provide a professional set for video production,
  • Operate video cameras, and video/audio equipment to produce high-quality footage,
  • Process/edit video (and audio), including making of opening and end credits for the video, subtitling, and making of simple CGI (signatures for interviewees, etc.) in line with broadcast video standards.
  • Record and produce HD videos (A and B-roll) in English and BCS languages to document events, and activities and interview key, staff/partners/beneficiaries per request of ADRA Yemen to ensure capturing of ADRA Yemen activities in video format;
  • Records and edit narration/voice-over were needed according to guidance from ADRA Yemen Communications Unit;
  • Export and deliver audio track of videos per request of ADRA Yemen; 
  • Embed sub-titles video as per the need;
  • Edit videos and basic graphic animation as per the request of ADRA Yemen Communications Unit;
  • Videos shall be produced in a high-quality broadcasting and web publishing format;
  • Export the final version of a video in formats optimized for HD web distribution and TV broadcast and deliver to ADRA Yemen;
  • Perform other relevant duties and assignments by the direct supervisor. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Communication and Advocacy Assistant positions. Preferably in Humanitarian NGOs. 
  • Advanced knowledge and skills of MS Office, including Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop, and other editing tools are required;
  • Canva working knowledge.
  • Excellent English and Arabic languages (Writing and speaking) are required.
