Background

The Society for Humanitarian Solidarity (SHS) is a nonprofit humanitarian NGO based in the in Aden, Yemen. It was founded in 1995.
The SHS provides assistance to refugees and migrants who arrive in Yemen every year.  The organization also assists the local community in Yemen.  The NGO won the Nansen Refugee Award, dedicated by the UNCHR. SHS has partnerships with UNCHR, OCHA, UNFPA and WFP.

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Field Monitor will assist the team in tracking progress of key indicators and provide timely report to the M&E Unit. He/ She will be responsible for data gathering, collation and reporting activities of xx program at xx.
The role of the Field Monitor is to support the M&E Officer in the implementation of the M&E work plan and contribute to achieving and improving the quality of the program/project. He/ She is responsible of carrying out M&E activities in the field.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Working closely with M&E staff to ensure all data quality requirements are met.
  • Use the collecting tools to tracking projects indicators to ensure that activities are tracked according to agreed projects’ plans.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of baseline surveys, needs assessments, mid-term and end of project.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits to the project targeted areas to track progress against indicators/achievement.
  • Ensure the implementation of activities according to established SOPs.
  • Compile collected data from field and share with the M&E Unit.
  • In coordination with M&E Unit implement the Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) mechanism, including preparations of tools for feedback and complaint collecting and recording, and responding.
  • Regularly verification carried case studies, PDM, FGD and success stories.
  • Perform other relevant duties and responsibilities required and requested by the Project Officer or Program Unit
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to SHS and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.

Education:

  • Diploma in Economics, Rural Development, Business Administration, statistics, demography or related subject. 

Experience: 

  • Previous experience working in humanitarian projects on field visits and assessment collecting.

Competency and Skills 

  • knowledge about M&E concepts and methodologies (quantitative & qualitative)
  • strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills.
  • Experience in data collection, collation, analysis, and report writing (Mobile Data Collection a strong advantage)
  • Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word)
  • Working with a team, or perform tasks alone.
  • Commitment to and understanding of SHS aims, values and principles
  • Professional, good organizational capacity, good human relationships and team spirit, motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible, flexible and, culturally sensitive
  • Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
  • Fluency in Hausa and English

Language 

  • Professional working level in Arabic and English languages.
