Background
The Society for Humanitarian Solidarity (SHS) is a nonprofit humanitarian NGO based in the in Aden, Yemen. It was founded in 1995.The SHS provides assistance to refugees and migrants who arrive in Yemen every year. The organization also assists the local community in Yemen. The NGO won the Nansen Refugee Award, dedicated by the UNCHR. SHS has partnerships with UNCHR, OCHA, and WFP.
Key Jobs Responsibilities (TOR):
- Daily cooking services for up to 24500 students
- Set up work station with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (cleaning, chopping and peeling, cleaning and cutting vegetables, etc.)
- Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly in the Healthy Kitchen.
- Always check the quality and expiration of ingredients
- Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages; prepare weekly food supply lists in coordination with the project Coordinator
- Prepare the meals based on daily plan, ensuring diversity, quality and nutritional value.
- Carry out any other tasks that may be assigned by the project coordinator from time to time.
Other Qualities:
- qualified in Food industry and Food preparation
- Strong interpersonal skills and works well in a team and colleagues at different levels.
- Ability to follow prescribed meal provision standards and protocols.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least 3 - 5 years’ experience working in food
- Previous experience in a humanitarian setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and representative skills (written, oral, cross - cultural).
