1. Background

YKF partnered with Save the Children to implement the “Building Resilience through Integrated Community-based and Humanitarian Systems Transformation and Leadership in Yemen" (BRIGHTLY) project. The Mobilization Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring meaningful community engagement and ownership throughout the project lifecycle. This involves building strong relationships with community members, leaders, and stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities. Facilitating dialogues, awareness campaigns, and information dissemination promotes transparency, addresses misconceptions, and fosters a sense of community investment and participation in the project activities. 

The Mobilization Assistant will focus on ensuring equitable and inclusive beneficiary selection, as well as smooth coordination with project staff, local authorities, and other stakeholders to enable effective implementation. Providing feedback, updates, and training to field teams further strengthens the project's capacity to respond to community needs and deliver the intended outcomes.

2. Responsibilities

The Mobilization Assistant will have the following key responsibilities:

1.    Establish and maintain strong relationships with community members, leaders, and stakeholders.
2.    Facilitate community meetings, discussions, and consultations to understand their needs, concerns, and priorities.
3.    Mobilize community participation and promote ownership in project activities.
4.    Conduct awareness campaigns and sensitization sessions on project objectives, activities, and expected outcomes.
5.    Disseminate information about the project, its benefits, and the roles of community members.
6.    Address any misconceptions or concerns within the community.
7.    Assist in identifying and selecting project beneficiaries based on established criteria.
8.    Ensure transparency and inclusiveness in the beneficiary selection process.
9.    Coordinate with project staff, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.
10.    Facilitate linkages between the community and project implementation teams.
11.    Provide feedback and updates on project progress and challenges.
12.    Facilitate orientation and training for field teams.
13.    Manage beneficiary announcements on distribution dates and locations.
14.    Liaise with other organizations or entities working in the FSL field.
15.    Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required to cover all field activities.
16.    Provide support to community members on skills and knowledge relevant to project objectives.
17.    Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Project Officer.

3. Qualifications and Experience

1.    University degree in social sciences, business, or a related field.
2.    Previous experience working in this field and with local communities.
3.    Demonstrated ability to report using gender-disaggregated data.
4.    Excellent computer skills, especially in Microsoft applications.
5.    Knowledge of the humanitarian situation, especially regarding food insecurity and livelihoods.
6.    Strong knowledge of assigned areas and rural communities with a willingness to travel locally.
7.    Ability to perform under pressure.
8.    Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
