Project Summary

The School Kitchens Project aims to provide healthy and nutritious meals to school students, targeting 7,000 male and female students in the capital city of Sana’a and Al-Hodeidah Governorate. The project is funded by the World Food Program (WFP) and implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, represented by the School Feeding and Humanitarian Relief Program (SFHRP).

This initiative seeks to enhance students' nutritional intake, improve their overall health, and foster a better learning environment by addressing food security challenges in schools.

 

Job Summary

The Food Safety and Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring the application of food safety and quality standards at all stages of school meal preparation. The role includes field supervision of quality specialists in school kitchens, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards in the production and distribution of meals. The manager will also contribute to providing a healthy and safe working environment, implementing safety plans, and solving problems to ensure work continuity according to the highest quality and safety standards.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and Implement Food Safety and Quality Plans:
    • Prepare and execute plans in collaboration with field teams.
  • Field Supervision:
    • Guide and monitor the performance of field specialists in school kitchens.
  • Develop Food Safety Procedures:
    • Regularly update the food safety procedures manual.
  • Inspect Food Materials:
    • Supervise the inspection of food materials and ingredients before storage and use.
  • Preventive Measures and Emergency Plans:
    • Establish and apply strategies to monitor food safety.
  • Training:
    • Provide regular training sessions for field specialists to enhance their skills.
  • Inspection Visits:
    • Conduct periodic visits to kitchens to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Ensure Production Quality:
    • Monitor production quality and the safety of provided meals.
  • Risk Assessment and Management:
    • Assess health and food safety risks and develop strategies to address them.
  • Coordination with Departments:
    • Collaborate with other departments to achieve the highest levels of quality and safety.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain organized records related to safety and quality.
  • Other Tasks:
    • Perform any additional duties assigned by the Project Manager.

  • Supervise all aspects of food safety and quality in school kitchens.
  • Make necessary decisions to implement quality standards and ensure food safety.

Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for implementing food safety and quality standards through field specialists.
  • Ensure the safety and suitability of meals provided to students.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Sciences or related fields.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in food safety or quality management.
