The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been working in Yemen on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) since 1969. It opened its office in Sana’a in 1983. In order to deliver flexible support at a time of war and insecurity, GIZ operates in Business Continuity Management mode in Yemen. Yemen is one of the nexus and peace partner countries of the German development cooperation. GIZ implements projects in the fields of water and sanitation, health, education, private sector, and employment, as well as good governance, peace, and local administration. At the same time we support measures to rehabilitate basic services for and enhance resilience of the local population, including particularly vulnerable groups such as internally displaced people. Our actions and decisions are guided by several core principles, the safety of our national colleagues as well as their well-being belonging to the most important ones.
With immediate effect the GIZ Office invites applications from qualified Yemeni nationals for the following position:
- Position: Logistics and Facility Management Specialist
- End of Contract: 31.01.2026

Overview of general tasks
- Main point of entry for all logistical questions
- Coordination of all required facility management and maintenance activities for GIZ premises
- Working closely with project teams to be aware of and meet operational needs
- Management of shared offices
- Responsibility of concluding and terminating rent contracts (buildings, storage facilities, parking space, etc.)
- Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in the field of Dispatch, Tracking and Fleet coordination according to GIZ regulations
Main activities of include:
- Ensuring that all documents or packages delivered to the GIZ premises are handed over to the related units, including international cargo
- Act as contact person for the customs if need arises
- Monitoring internal and external transportation needs; forward suggestions to the LFA for the most economic and safe solution to organize transport
- Organising and monitoring all registration needs, such as car cards, insurances for cars in Yemen and in Germany; insurances of facilities – follow-up on timely payment and the update of data where required
- Processing any insurance claims against local and German insurance companies
- Taking responsibility that technical vehicle inspections and all maintenance needs of cars and other equipment are done in a timely manner
- Ensure driver training and the other task as required by the RMO
- Conduction regular checks on the documentation of logbooks
- Planning of workspaces for employees, ensuring cost-effective and optimal space utilization
- Preparation and forwarding the necessary documentation for the audit proof accounting of shared offices
- Forwarding requests with supportive documents for the timely payment of rent and other facility-related costs to the finance department
- Collaboration with the Risk Management Office (RMO) to ensure safety and security across all GIZ premises
- Managing service contracts and purchase orders related to facility management and fleet management in compliance with GIZ rules and regulations
- Taking responsibility for small purchases of up to EUR 500 (stationery, cleaning materials, maintenance services, etc.) upon approval of Head of Administration and Finance
- Responsible for the day-to-day communication with all support staff and reporting any necessity to the Head of Administration and Finance
- Willingness to handle any additional task as assigned by the management, ensuring flexibility in responding to operational demands
Qualifications
- University degree in a relevant specialization
Professional experience
- At least 5 years working experience in a comparable position
Other Knowledge, Additional Competences
- Proven experience in facility management, logistics, and vehicle fleet management, ideally in an international organization
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across different departments
- Very good negotiation skills in a difficult environment
- Knowledge of relevant local regulations in Yemen
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Fluent in Arabic and English
- Good working knowledge of ICT technologies
