JOB TITLE: Risk Management Data Analyst - Intern

TYPE OF CONTRACT: Intern

UNIT/DIVISION: Risk Management

DUTY STATION (City, Country): YECO, Sana'a CO

DURATION: 6 months

REPORTING TO: Senior Risk Officer

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

Under the Direct/ Technical guidance & supervision of the Head of Risk Management, the incumbent will perform the following: (This is not an exhaustive list, and additional tasks may be assigned as deemed necessary by Mngt, or the Head of Risk Management.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide data analysis, modelling, and visualization support for risk management and specifically key risk indicators. Be responsible for turning raw data into actionable insights that support decision-making and programme improvement.
    Data Collection & Management: Collect, process, and clean data from various sources. Develop and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity and quality. Automate data collection processes if possible.
    Data Analysis & Modeling: Analyse data and create scenarios considering WFP risk appetite. Build predictive models or other machine learning models as needed. Identify trends, patterns and outliers.
    Data Visualization & Reporting: Create dashboards and visualizations to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences (tableau, powerpoint etc.). Prepare reports and presentations summarizing key insights and recommendations. Support communication of findings effectively to stakeholders.
    Technical Support & Capacity Building: Provide technical support to RMU staff in the use of data analysis tools and methods developed. Conduct training sessions to enhance data literacy among team members.
  • Contribute to the improvement of internal processes, enhancement of corporate systems and design of tools, to support transparent and efficient utilization of financial resources.
  • Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, seminars and general project events such as APP/Annual performance plan and RR/Risk register.
  • Assist in providing employee training on Risk Management and Compliance related topics, policies, or procedures.
  • Refer to WFP policies, manuals, directives, SOPs, and ensure consistency of the recommendations/conclusions to corporate standards/Manuals/Directives/SOPs.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Preferable competencies:

  • Ability to perform data analysis and knowledge in data management and/or data science.

Standard Minimum Qualifications:

The Internship programme envisions the eligibility criteria to ensure the programme is applied in a consistent and structured manner:

1. Be fluent in English (WFP working language)
2. Be fit to work at the duty station of the internship.
3. Not be sons, daughters, brothers or sisters of WFP employees.

Match one of the below conditions for education status:

a. Currently enrolled in an undergraduate programme (for example, Bachelor’s degree) and have completed at least 2 years of the programme. Candidates should have attended classes in the past 12 months from a recognised university (please refer to the UNESCO list below or at UNESCO ™ | WHED World Higher Education Database | International Handbook of Universities | IAU | IHU (unesco-whed.org) 
b. Currently enrolled in a graduate programme (for example, Master’s degree) from a recognised university (please refer to the UNESCO list) and have attended classes in the past 12 months;
c. Recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the Internship programme) from a recognised university and have attended classes in the last 12 months.

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP. 
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation and related costs.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
