Background

BCHR is a leading national non-governmental humanitarian agency with a global mission to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. BCHR is a non-profit and non-governmental organization aiming to provide health, nutrition, food security and protection services as a humanitarian response to the escalating socio-economic situation in Yemen since 2015.

Job Summary:

The Project Officer will be based in BCHR’s Marib office, and he/she will be responsible for implementation of project in Marib Governorate, Yemen. 
The project Officer will work under the supervision of the project manager and will be responsible for providing technical support to the planning, execution, and monitoring of project activities.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the project's implementation following the proposal, donor agreement, and BCHR's policies and guidelines. Ensure the project is implemented to a high quality, on time, and against agreed work plans. Achieve desired results. 
  • Ensure accurate delivery of the definition of project scope and objectives to related project actors and ensure technical feasibility.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation for smooth and timely implementation of activities within budget and scope.
  • Develop and manage project plans with the MEAL department and with appropriate monitoring tools and strategies to monitor the progress, quality, and impact of the project and its implementation.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks, proactively create urgent solutions and contingency plans for problems that may affect work progress, and keep project implementation on track.
  • Undertake to prepare and submit accurate, informative, and quality monthly and quarterly reports and work plans as scheduled following the donor’s regulations and requirements.
  • Maintain and foster good relationships and strong external and internal representation with other national NGOs and local authorities
  • Collaborate with the finance, programs, and logistics teams to ensure that the project is effectively monitored against approved outputs and budget and ensure the preparation and regular updating of activity plans and the project budget.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by Team Leader or Senior Management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • A university degree in communications, management, English, international relations, or any related field is preferred. 
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience working in similar positions with prior seniority in project management experience.
  • Excellent English and Arabic languages (Writing and speaking) are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access) and infographic creation.
  • Able to ensure quality delivery in stressful environments.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with heavy work pressure.
  • Knowledge of project cycle management and reporting.
