Background

The Society for Humanitarian Solidarity (SHS) is a nonprofit humanitarian NGO based in the in Aden, Yemen. It was founded in 1995.The SHS provides assistance to refugees and migrants who arrive in Yemen every year. The organization also assists the local community in Yemen. The NGO won the Nansen Refugee Award, dedicated by the UNCHR. SHS has partnerships with UNCHR, OCHA, and WFP.

Key Jobs Responsibilities (TOR):

The Logistics Assistant has a mandate and tasks of providing direct support to the Healthy Meals Pilot Project is an education sector intervention in line with WFP’s school feeding model. It is a freshly prepared meals in the targeted school daily to assist the project objective.

The role & Responsibility – TOR:

Logistics Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and checking deliveries of the ingredients of the health meals and ensure that the correct amount and type of stock is delivered in good quality and fresh
  • Signing delivery notes upon receipt of local shipments from suppliers
  • Observing notes about appropriate procedures for handling stock, particularly when fragile such as eggs, bread and vegetables keeping intact the freshness of all
  • Unpacking items and arranging these on shelves and store as appropriate
  • Prepare as planned the required orders and receive from the suppliers and the deliveries prepared meals packs/stock to the schools accordingly 
  • Ensuring that the store facility remains clean, hygiene and healthy at all times, sanitary, and well-organized
  • Reporting all breakages and spills spoiled as well missing
  • Prepare monthly logistics reports on orders, receipts and distributed 
  • Offering assistance to other staff in the department during your break occasions 

The project is implemented in the targeted primary schools and early ECCD Early Childhood Care and Development (kindergarten in Dar’ Assad) 
The Logistics Assistant will be closely working with and reporting to the Project Manager

Other Qualities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience as a Logistics Assistant at a large warehouse.
  • Sound knowledge of ordering, shipping and delivering processes and metrics.
  • Ability to handle and maneuver fragile stock with ease.
  • Strong communication, memorization, and teamwork skills
