NPA’s international work covers three core areas: Mine Action and Disarmament, Democratization and Just distribution of power and resources, and Humanitarian Action and crisis response.

NPA is seeking a Driver for its program in Yemen.

Job purpose.

The position requires Driving experience, 
The position is based in Aden with travels within the country.

Responsibilities.  

The Driver is part of the team and supports the Operations. 
The position reports to the Logistics 

Responsibilities:

  • Must hold a valid and approved driving license.
  • At least 3 years of related work experience, particularly with international NGO preferred.
  • To operate NPA vehicles as directed.
  • To maintain a high standard of service to both internal and external guests.
  • To ensure punctuality and safe transport;
  • To observe the road, traffic laws, and regulations of Aden.
  • Ensure that safe driving practices are adhered to including local driving codes and internally agreed standards.
  • Tracks and schedules all routine maintenance for the mobile vehicle
  • Reports any vehicle accidents or damage to the logistics officer
  • To provide clear and accurate spoken interpretations between NPA TFMs and non-English speaking persons to include NPA national staff, local authorities, informants, security forces, and others. 
  • Work in the field with the teams as a translator.
  • Any other duties as tasked by their management/superiors.  

Required qualification

Must have:

  • Valid and approved driving license
  • Good command of English and Arabic - both speaking and writing;

Education

  • Diploma and/or High school as minimum.

Experience

  • 5 years or more driving experience
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics
  • Able to travel to the field and work in remote areas for an extended period 
  • Be in good health 
  • Work experience working with INGOs or the UN.

Personal competencies

  • Ability to work effectively in a team, as well as independently, in a fast-paced environment.
