Organizational Context and Scope

Working under the overall supervision of the Project Assistant, the Site Assistant will support and provide humanitarian assistance to persons in need through the SNFI Unit of the IOM.

Core Functions / Responsibilities

  • Participate in conducting assessments and surveys of sites, collecting information on overall services available;
  • Participate in verification of beneficiaries as required, and in coordination with the Programme Assistant;
  • Contribute to distributions as and when required to IDPs, returnees, host communities, migrants, and other individuals selected for assistance under IOM’s various assistance programs, if and when required;
  • As guided by the Project Assistant and Site Assistant, support in monitoring disbursements of funds and financial service providers, ensuring assistance provided is as per agreed amounts;
  • As necessary, support other teams with assessments, including the preparations of the assessment tools and focus group sheets and post distribution monitoring activities;
  • Participate in market price monitoring of key items related to IOM’s cash programme and of vendors using developed templates and provide analysis as to the trends and price increase/decreases;
  • Provide advice and support beneficiaries to obtain ID cards, working closely with the Field Team Leader, as and when required;
  • Ensure regular monitoring of SNFI activities, including data collection and reporting. Monitor the progress, effectiveness, and impact of SNFI interventions;
  • Contribute to the drafting of technical documents in collaboration with the IOM CCCM/SNFI team when needed;
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • High school diploma or bachelor’s degree (Engineering degree is preferable) with one year of experience.

Experience:

  • Experience in the humanitarian sector preferable and working with vulnerable individuals.

Languages

  • For all applicants, fluency in Arabic is required, working knowledge of English is an advantage.

The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.
