Job Description

 Main Purpose 
 
Define, coordinate and monitor medical activities of the project under his responsibility according to INTERSOS protocols, standards and procedures in order to ensure the delivery of quality medical care for patients and their local communities as well as to improve the health conditions of the target population of the project.  
 
Reporting to:  

  • (Hierarchical): Project manager 
  • (Technical): Programme Medical Referent /Deputy Medical Coordinator   

Tasks  

  • Coordinate, assess and supervise the proper functioning of the medical activities of the project according to INTERSOS protocols, standards and procedures and through the correct compilation and analysis of medical data regarding patients’ health conditions. 
  • Participate in the definition of annual planning and budget for the project and in the follow up of the project.  
  • Supervise and ensure that medical activities objectives under his/her responsibility are achieved, reporting to the technical referent any problem arising in the service.  
  • Coach and train the medical team of the activities he/she manages in order to guarantee the good quality of the medical activities and to provide medical care to the patients. 
  • Check all administrative procedures related to patients’ follow-up (card filling, registers, paper exit, discharge, transfers ...) are carried out correctly and according to INTERSOS procedures. 
  • Coordinate and monitor the daily working plan of the team under his/her responsibility (absent personnel, vacations, tracking leaves ...). Participate in shifts and replace a staff if necessary. 
  • Plan and supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, development and internal communication) of the staffs under his responsibility in order to improve staff’s capabilities and to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required. 
  • Participate in the monthly reports according to guidelines. 

 
Requirements 
 
Minimum requirements 

  • Minimum required essential Medical Degree in medicine, or medical degree in any other health sciences i.e. medical assistant, nurse, lab tech, pharmacist. Desirable specialization or training in tropical medicine or public health is an added advantage.   
  • Relevant professional experience of not less than 2 years in similar positions. 
  • Proven technical expertise in managing data and information cycle: from data collection, processing, storage, and analysis for diverse datasets as well as presenting information in understandable, effective, and visually appealing tables, charts, graphs, maps, visuals and reports. 
  • Prior experience in working with NGOs.  
  • Good written and spoken English.  
  • Fluency/native in Arabic.

  • Demonstrated experience with different donors’ compliance and reporting.

  • Understanding of humanitarian operations principles, standards, and best practices
  • Commitment to INTERSOS principle 
  • Ability and willingness to operate in challenging environments and travel to remote field locations on a regular basis. 
  • Excellent computer skills (proven computer literacy), especially in Excel.  
  • Report writing skills and Strong analytical skills. 
  • Familiarity with Smart Tools for Data Collection (Kobo, ODK, etc.). 
  • Readiness to commit and adhere to the values, mission and vision of INTERSOS.
