Org. Setting and Reporting :This position is located in the Close Protection Team for the Panel of Experts on Yemen (POEY) within the Safety & Security Section of the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary general for Yemen (OSESGY). The Close Protection Officer will be based in Aden and will report to the SCO in Aden and POEY Close Protection Team Leader.
Responsibilities :• Conducts and coordinates personal protection operations for Panel of Experts during their visits to Yemen. • Remains within the proximity of the panel members at all times. • Remains vigilant and alert in case of any threat to the protected person and acts accordingly. • Conducts all personal protection security operations as outlined in the UN personal protection management guidelines. • Coordinates all activities with relevant parties as required. • Whenever necessary, supervises drivers attached to the Close Protection Unit in the performance of their assigned duties. • Operates all personal protection equipment and ensures equipment readiness and condition. • Carries all issued equipment while on duty. • Conducts training sessions on personal protection subjects. • Acts as Security Liaison Officer when required. • Acts as the armory custodian in Aden. • Supervises the Unarmed Guards in OSESGY Office and Guest House in Aden and takes responsibility for the common security work on the OSESGY premises as an active part of the Safety & Security Section in Aden. • Reports any security related incidents and updates to the Security Coordination Officer in Aden. • Performs any other duties, as assigned.

Education :High school diploma or equivalent technical or vocational certificate is required.
Job - Specific Qualification :A valid driver’s license is required. Valid certification on UN ETB course or IFAK is required. Please upload certificates. A Valid United Nations Firearm Authorization Card is required with validity of not less than 6 months. Please provide details on certification dates and location. Training on Close Protection Operations with a local, national, private or international security organization is required.
Work Experience :At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in close protection with a local, national, private or international security organization is required. At least one year of experience working in close protection in or in support of a field operation of the United Nations Common System is required. At least 1 year of progressively responsible experience in security coordination in support of a field operation of the United Nations is desirable. Experience and training on Mine Awareness, Hostile Detection, Counter Surveillance and Civil Unrest counter measures are desirable. Experience in supporting, coordinating and providing security for a Panel of Experts is desirable.
Languages :English and Arabic are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English and Arabic is required (both oral and written).
Assessment :Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
