SUMMARY:

The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible to oversee implementation of overall nutrition project activities for treatment of both moderate and severe acute malnutrition and promotion IYCF services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical supervision of, and technical support to nutrition project team and HFs.
  • Be responsible for the implementation, management and supervision of ADRA nutrition project in Hajjah and Hodeida Governorates, in line with ADRA nutrition strategy and project plan and according to humanitarian, national and international standards.
  • Ensure that all nutrition activities are consistent with established standards.
  • Conduct monthly field trips to nutrition facility locations to ensure all activities are carried out as per national guidelines and meeting ADRA standards.
  • Be responsible for the collection and timely reporting of data and statistics for projects with national, internal, and donor requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities for internal and external reports (e.g. weekly, monthly, quarterly and final reports) as requested by Donor and M0PHP.
  • Manage and oversee the assigned nutrition team including recruitment, day-to-day management, development and training, appraisals, etc. 
  • Ensure that any financial activities are carried out in line with ADRA’s procedures, and all paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Represent ADRA at relevant local level coordination meetings involving local authorities, and Ministry of Public Health and Population (MOPHP).
  • Represent ADRA in the Nutrition Cluster or Sub-cluster.
  • Manage the correct and timely ordering (within budgetary constraints) of all necessary medicines, supplies and equipment for the assigned health facilities and activities, ensuring minimum stocks are maintained and items are stored and distributed correctly.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the line supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical/nutrition or equivalent from any recognized institution is required.
  • Four years’ experience in managing nutrition programs.
  • Has trained in CMAM and experience in working on OTP & SFP activities.
  • Has trained in IYCF and experience working on IYCF activities.
  • Understanding rights-based approaches and participatory concepts and practical experience in similar context. 
  • Proven abilities in information analysis and strong English drafting abilities.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain tactful relations with community.
  • Strong commitment to capacity building of national staff and partners with willingness to adopt a participatory and consultative management approach.
  • Flexible, adaptable, able to improvise and work in stressful, volatile environment
