About Generations without Qat Organization:  

GWQ "Generations Without Qat" is a non-governmental organization based in Yemen that was formally established in 2010 as a result of ongoing volunteer and awareness work that a group of development activists had been performing since 2007. 

GWQ is a premier humanitarian and development organization that covers several governorates in humanitarian response activities, providing relief support to conflict-affected communities in multiple sectors such as WASH, Shelter, NFIs, Education, and CCCMs. Since our inception in 2010, GWQ has dedicated its efforts to assisting communities in the country, especially the most disadvantaged, in providing livelihoods and improving health and education. Beneficiaries' activities of the organization are youth, women and children, conflict-affected communities, and vulnerable groups.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • With the technical engineer, conduct an assessment for paving streets locations, streets that need lightening with solar power and rehabilitating sewage networks. 
  • Conduct site visits, monitoring schedules, and participate in supervising the contactors. 
  • Offer technical support, and troubleshooting on-site issues. 
  • Ensure on-site efficiency and safety at all times. 
  • Work with the technical engineer on providing project designs, specifications and BoQs. 
  • Oversee equipment testing, installation, and operation. 
  • Participate in directing contractors and on-site personnel while the implementation of projects. 
  • Draft and submit reports weekly/monthly basis to the technical engineer. 
  • Ensure the availability of accurate, complete and up-to-date information for each project site.  
  • Ensuring compliance to all safety, environment, and health procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRMENTS: 

  • University degree in civil engineering, architecture, relevant fields or equivalent. 
  • A 2-3 years’ experience in the work working with INGOs/NGOs. 
  • Demonstrated capacities to establish and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with government officials, local organizations, communities and other stakeholders. 
  • Good English-language level (speaking, reading, writing). 
  • Good writing and reporting skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Power point) as well as engineering programs (Auto CAD, Civilpro ... etc.).
