Principle Resident Engineer

Job Description

  • Project In-charge for the complete Project Site Team and responsible for Project Management for the entire project. Coordination with various stakeholders like Client, Developer, Contractor, Public/Statutory Authorities etc.; 
  • Establish project time schedule in close coordination with Client and Contractor; 
  • Review Contractor’s Technical/Material submittals; drawings, calculation, layouts and detailed engineering documents on GIS, Switchgears, transformers, CT, PT, cables, batteries etc. and assure design implementation at site;
  • Supervise, monitor and control Contractor’s site construction works to ensure compliance to contractual requirements; 
  • Witness of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities; 
  • Coordinate for the required outages; 
  • Conduct periodic progress meetings to ensure project progress in line with established schedule and within the project budget; 
  • Progress reporting through monthly progress reports highlighting work accomplished during reporting periodic, look-ahead, issues/bottlenecks including recommendations; 
  • Coordination with the Project Stakeholders in order to ensure project progress and resolve bottlenecks; 
  • Review Contractor’s QA/QC documentation and procedures, including inspection and testing schedules and the results of works tests; 
  • Review and certification of Contractor’s progress measurements. 
  • Review of as-built documentation; 
  • Close coordination with Client and Contractor including periodic audits, review meetings to ensure strict compliance to HSEQ requirements; 
  • Responsible for site inspections, testing, commissioning & final handover to Client. Follow-up with Contractor for completion of pending items and snags; 
  • Coordinate with Client for issuance of Provisional & Final Acceptance Certificates. Verify claims/variations & certify final account of the project; 
  • Identify potentials to improve process during project execution. Implement changes/improvements in coordination with management; 
  • Identify claim potentials and develop Time extension/Variation Order requests, related to consultancy/PMC contract; 

Skills,Experience and Education

 Education:

Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (University Degree) 

Experience

Minimum 15 years experience in the energy sector and particularly in the Power Transmission and Distribution with minimum 4-5 years experience as Consultant Engineer or similar. Experience in installation, supervision and commissioning is a must. 

Language:

Candidate should be perfect in English speaking, writing and reading. 

Other Languages, like Arabic, German, French are of advantage 

skills: 

  • Communication with Client’s representative, EPC contractor etc. 
  • Flexible attitude, Team-oriented and multi-cultural. 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office / MS Project / Primavera; 
  • Familiarization with IEC, ANSI and IEEE standards; 
  • In-depth exposure on safety and procedures.
