Job Details


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (Under the supervision of Head of Finance, Head of Finance OIC and respective International Finance Officer):

  • Ensure delivery of critical processes, exercises and Programme, including but not limited to FSI, CBT, UNHAS, BSP, Cost recovery, Donor reporting and other core finance activities, to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate and coordinate in ensuring the validity of FSI for Yemen Country Office.

  • Coordinate and support the implementation of the recommendations from FSI exercise.

  • Monitor and analyses the factors impacting exchange rate, including USD and YER liquidity in the country.

  • Coordinate the required budget, monitor spending and unspent balances for BSP, cost recovery projects and expiring contributions, including closure of open items.

  • Lead and coordinate monthly UNHAS, BSP, cost recovery reconciliation and closure of long outstanding open items.

  • Lead and coordinate required Country Office Donor Reporting.

  • Report on key data for financial status and outcomes of projects in accordance with corporate governance requirements, cost to serve to beneficiaries, ensuring accuracy, deadlines, and accounting processes are complied with.

  • Track and collate data to support others to improve policies, systems and procedures in order to minimize financial risks, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and ensure services are aligned with business objectives.

  • Contribute to the delivery of financial controls and insight into WFP performance, supporting periodic risk and internal control assessments to identify areas which may present potential audit, compliance or financial risks.

  • Guide and supervise more junior staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with more complex analysis and queries.

  • Represent unit/CO at internal meetings, external meetings and events with other UN agencies, banks and other financial institutions, or other partners and entities as required.

  • Fill in capacity gaps in any stream of Finance function.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
Ensure accuracy and timely delivery in all tasks performed; Produce organized, accurate and well documented records confirming required format with well analyzed data; improve business processes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education: University degree in Accounting or Finance or relevant fields, Advanced University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related fields, or First University degree in the same subject(s) with additional years of related work experience plus membership in an international recognized professional accountancy body such as Association of Chartered, Certified Accountants (ACCA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Institute of Certified Public Accounts (ICPA)or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Total relevant 5 years of experience including 1 year of Professional experience.

  • UN experience in working in the finance, project management, in humanitarian and development context are preferrable.
