The Procurement Engineer plays a critical role in managing the sourcing, purchasing, and delivery of materials, equipment, and services required for engineering and construction projects. This position requires a strong technical background, deep understanding of procurement processes, and the ability to negotiate and manage vendor relationships effectively. The Procurement Engineer will work closely with engineering, project management, and finance teams to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement aligned with project specifications and company policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Identify project material and equipment requirements based on engineering specifications and project schedules.
Source and evaluate suppliers/vendors for technical and commercial compliance.
Negotiate contracts, prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
Issue purchase orders and track deliveries to ensure on-time and accurate receipt of goods and services.
Review technical drawings and specifications to ensure material compliance.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve quality, delivery, or invoice discrepancies.
Coordinate with internal teams to align procurement schedules with project milestones.
Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, project requirements, and applicable regulations.
Maintain records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications.
Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and supplier development programs.
Prepare procurement status reports and communicate updates to project teams and management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field); Master’s degree is a plus.
3–5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain roles within engineering or construction industries.
Strong knowledge of technical specifications and engineering materials.
Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Knowledge of international sourcing and import/export procedures is an asset.
