Job Description
Al-Salam Hospital is looking for Yemeni nationals to be recruited for the following position:
MEDICAL DOCTOR
Location: Amran Governorate – Khamer
Contract type: Volunteer with MOH.
Reporting to: Doctor Activity Manager & Medical Activity Manager
In the frame of these activities he/she will:
- Respect the time schedule and be at work on time.
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention.
- Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols.
- Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
- Conduct daily ward rounds on all patients in Adult ward, ITFC, Paediatrics, Neonatal, ICU, Isolation wards.
- Ensure timely emergency review of patients in the department when needed/indicated.
- Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IPD patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following MSF and MOH protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution.
- Ensure proper documentation of medical data and filling system.
- Fill in patient files, collect and analyse medical data and participate in medical reporting.
- Maintain good communication and collaboration with specialists and other team members.
- Prescribe medications and give detailed instructions for administration according to MSF and MOH guidelines.
- Keep updated records of patients’ illnesses, surgeries, or other medical episodes (allergic shocks, injuries etc.)
- Carry out general compliance with standing hygiene standards in all medical activities.
- Inform the line manager about any problem or complication of the patients’ illness, medical error and monitor the proper functioning of the department, equipment, or material.
- Knowledge of all MSF and MOH medical protocols and application of these protocols in the field.
- Ensure professional confidentiality is respected; ensure compliance with medical ethics.
- Maintain good attitude and proper bedside manner towards the patient and their caretakers and the rest of the medical team.
- Obligatory attendance to morning meeting to participate in handover from night duties doctors.
- Attend staff meetings and offer suggestions. Listen to others with an open mind.
- Participate to the monthly Morbi Mortality review (MMR), Trainings, and relevant meetings.
- Attend to ABS, IPC and Blood Committees.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery (MBBS).
- Essential: Valid medical licence to practice.
Experience
- 2 years’ experience minimum as a Medical Doctor.
- Desirable experience in, paediatrics, infectious diseases, Emergency, general medicine or minor surgery.
Languages
- Essential Arabic and English languages.
Knowledge
- Essential computer literacy (word, excel)
