Role Overview:
The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in assisting the Project Manager in the successful implementation of project activities aimed at supporting economic development and resilience in Yemen. This position requires a proactive individual with strong organizational skills and a commitment to contributing to positive change in the community. The Project Assistant will provide support in the implementation of projects aimed at enhancing economic resilience and improving access to financial services for smallholders, SMEs, and microfinance service providers in Yemen. He/She will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure the successful planning, execution, and delivery of project activities. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that implementation of procurement focusing on achievements are in full compliance of procurement activities with RRD rules, regulations, policies and strategies.
  • Procurement plan preparation and implementation in accordance to the annual project work plans on a quarterly basis.
  • Responsible for technical and logistical support of workshops, trainings, conferences, meetings, roundtable discussions (Events) held by the project aimed to raise awareness about project activities.
  • Timely and proper preparation of procurement plans for the project, establishment of the deadlines and monitoring of its implementation.
  • Ensure elaboration and implementation of the internal control system, which ensures that Purchase Orders (PO) are duly prepared and dispatched. Timely corrective actions on POs with budget check errors and other problems.
  • Support in coordinating activities with stakeholders, including smallholders, SMEs, and partner organizations.
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure proper filing and record-keeping.
  • Coordinate logistics for project events, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Assist in preparing project visibility items, such as reports, photos, and other communication materials.
  • Provide administrative support to the Project Manager and project team as needed.
  • Provide administrative support, including document management, filing, and record-keeping.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting trainings and capacity-building activities for project beneficiaries.
  • Contribute to knowledge management and learning within the project team.
  • Perform any other project-related tasks as assigned by the Project Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Development Studies, or related field.
  • Previous experience in logistics and procurement roles is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, preferably in the development sector
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation processes is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office suite.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation principles and tools is an advantage.
  • Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Yemeni context, particularly in Marib Governorate, is desirable.
