Introduction:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as a Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFIs) Distribution Officer. This pivotal role involves overseeing the implementation of emergency shelter and NFIs distribution projects, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of aid to displaced populations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing project plans, conducting field visits, analyzing progress, and identifying opportunities for program enhancement. Additionally, this role requires close coordination with stakeholders, adherence to donor criteria, and commitment to upholding organizational standards and policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation of emergency shelter and Non-food items distribution project activities and follow-up the implementation of activities.
  • Preparing a project work plan, procurement plans, media plan, vehicle movement plan and share it to the relevant sectors.
  • Conduct regular field visits to IDPs sites in the project areas.
  • Analyse project progress and determine expected delinquency.
  • Assess, promote and document ideas for improvement and further program development options.
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and asses’ new and better ways to assist.
  • Oversee the activities related to NFIs distribution making sure that are in line with the donor criteria.
  • Contribute and identify opportunities for capacity building of the Shelter/NFIs Team and transfer key skills.
  • Archive all data and documents related to the project, according to the system followed in the organization.
  • Ensure that data of beneficiaries are collected by using KOBO toolbox and following up the assistants to submit the lists of beneficiaries on time.
  • Working with IM and Reporting Officer to submit all required documents within the time of implementing the project and according to the work plan.
  • Ensure that project activities are well coordinated with M&E officer based on applied data collection tools and data flow mechanisms.
  • Write and submit all kinds of required reports in English (Weekly, monthly, and distribution report).
  • Ensure compliance with Deem policies, guidelines and standards.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Manager in order to advance Deem’s interventions.
  • Establish safety and security measures for each activity and ensure that these rules are respected by the workforce under his/ her supervision and by the population.
  • Monitor the distribution of the Shelter / NFIs Kits to the beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate, liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders.
  • Attend different field meetings when required and provide detailed reports to the Project Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • University degree in social sciences or any other relevant field.
  • Experience in Shelter intervention, Minimum 2 – 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Languages: Proficiency in English is required.
  • Proven skills in building relationships with the community leaders, local, and national levels
  • Good conceptual understanding of gender, protection, and human rights
  • Excellent representation, negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong team spirit and ability to work comfortably in multi-cultural contexts
  • Good skills with basic software, such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to write reports and situational briefings in English
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time in field condition
  • Ability to come up with innovative solutions to unexpected and challenging problems stress.
