Position Description Summary

The Yemeni Women’s Entrepreneurship Project Assistant will support the project’s activities to help provide training to select participants in a wide variety of skills needed to succeed in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Assistant’s activities will include answering inquiries for project participants, helping arrange and coordinate local training activities, overseeing the microfinance fund, assuring financial compliance, conducting data entry, completing project documents including quarterly reports, and monitoring and evaluating the activities of the trainees, the grants, and project results.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support project management in answering general inquiries and providing basic project documents.
  • Conduct all project data entry into Amideast Yemen project systems, including tracking documents on SharePoint and Trello and Amideast’s IRIS database on a regular basis.
  • Monitor project social media activities and promote awareness through cooperation with Amideast Yemen staff responsible for social media.
  • In coordination with the Training Coordinator, develop project policies and guidelines, prepare outreach efforts and materials, and identify trainers.
  • Identify and engage with potential project participants and promote the project to them.
  • Develop an online application form and establish a committee to review and select finalists for training and, later, to select finalists for microfinance funding.
  • Develop project terms and conditions for participants.
  • Conduct post-award microfinance monitoring and evaluation and verify results attained vis-à-vis project objectives and indicators through site visits, “office hours,” focus group discussions, structured interviews, and/or surveys as appropriate.
  • Monitor microfinance accounts and assure that all Amideast/USG procurement policies are followed and that all necessary documents are submitted before authorizing reimbursement requests.
  • Submit quarterly project narrative reports.
  • Complete purchase orders and other administrative documents as required.
  • Collect and organize pre and post assessment information from vendors. 
  • Curate project media and photographic coverage.
  • Conduct project closeout, including issuance of a final report and financial reconciliation of all microfinance awards.
  • Work closely and coordinate with the Training Coordinator and with other Amideast colleagues.
  • Other activities as needed to support the successful implementation of the Yemeni Women’s Entrepreneurship Project and other projects implemented by the training department.
  • Backstop the training staff during peak periods and absences and any other duties requested by immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field of study.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Excellent English language and Arabic language written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, for example, 12 P.M. to 8 P.M.
  • Ability to work in an international team environment.
  • Strong communications, marketing, interpersonal, and public presentation skills.
  • Strong ability to organize and maintain significant amounts of information.
  • Experience with social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Ability to travel throughout Yemen.

Preferred:

  • Experience with small or microenterprise.
  • Knowledge of microfinance.
  • An ITP TOEFL score of 550 or higher or iBT TOEFL score of 79 or higher.
  • Minimum two years’ work experience with multiple areas of responsibilities.
  • Previous work experience in an NGO, INGO, or U.S. government organization.
  • A female candidate is preferable.
