SOUL for Development is a national NGO, founded in February 1997 by a group of Yemeni professionals out of their desire to achieve a higher quality of life for Yemeni women and children. Since its inception, it has implemented over 80 development interventions in 18 out of Yemen's 22 governorates, benefiting over 5, 500,000 people. As a result, the organization has established itself among the most effective civil society organizations in Yemen that are working on health, education, and WASH issues in support of women, children, and youth. Operating out of its Headquarters in Sana’a and its offices in Taiz and Aden, SOUL, provides critical educational, health, and WASH services to urban and rural communities.
Job Information
Job Title: Partnership & Fundraising Officer
Location: Aden.
Contract Type: Full Time.
Contract Duration: 6 Months Extendable.
Start Date: As soon as possible.
Tasks & Duties:
- Contribute to achieving overall Partnership & Business Development Unit (PBDU) goals and mandate.
- Contribute to the preparation of the PBDU Strategic and Annual Plan.
- Explore/ capture/ follow up every potential opportunity (calls, awards, grants, and sponsorship), and identify it by the supervision of the PBDU Leader as well as be responsible for the submission.
- Study the calls’ documents and provide PBDU leader & team with necessary brief and information.
- Develop & negotiate partnership agreements and sponsorships.
- Liaise with the PP COMMITTEE for drafting the relevant proposal documents; (i.e.: technical and financial).
- Be responsible of writing and completing the different types of partnerships documents, ensuring they meet the requirements of donors.
- Ensure the appropriate submission of proposals; after get approved by the PBDU Leader & Head of Projects (for the technical part), ensure they follow SOUL criteria & standards, and follow up until arrival in the identified destination timely.
- Maintain continuous communication with PMU & MEAL staff to be aware of the projects’ situation on the ground to ensure better quality of new project proposals and reflect all the lessons learned.
- Explore (through visits, on-line communication, attending activities, etc.) / Identify / cultivate partnerships with national and international donors and partners.
- Assist the PBDU Leader in representing and promoting SOUL at networking events, conferences, workshops, clusters and other meetings internally and externally.
- Develop and implement donor engagement plan.
- Identify and engage with donor using the most effective engagement channels.
- Maintain regular communication with current and prospective donors, and organize field visits, events, and activities to strengthen relationships and keep them informed and engaged.
- Work along with the communication team to develop a communication plan that outlines the donor interactions.
- Receive, respond and deal responsibly with feedback, comments, requests, etc., coming from the funding agencies and/or partners.
- Monitor/ supervise the use of funds and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
- Prepare reports on grant progress and outcomes for funders and stakeholders.
- Conduct research on funding trends and donor interests, competitors, and analyze the effectiveness of fundraising efforts.
- Work along with PBDU Leader, Communication Team, as well as; other units at SOUL in order to be clear about SOUL's brand and how to promote it.
- Assist and represent the PBDU Leader upon his/her authorization.
- Be flexible, adaptable, and available to take other assignments upon request by PBDU leader.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in Management, Business Administration, International Relationship, Communications, Social Sciences or any related field.
- Relevant certifications in fundraising, business development in NGOs, Project DPro, climate change can be advantageous.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in BD, grant writing, fundraising, partnership in the humanitarian field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic / English.
- Strong ability to identify / research/ and apply for funding sources.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with fundraising applications software, CRM systems, and database management is an advantage.
- Strong ability to persuade and negotiate terms and agreements.
- Good knowledge of fundraising techniques, proposals and grants writing.
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities to cultivate and maintain donor relationships and partnerships.
- Strong research & analytic skills, understanding of market trends and competitive dynamics.
- Ability to analyze data and reports to track fundraising progress and donor engagement.
- Solid knowledge of financial principles; including budget, forecast, and financial analysis.
- Attention to details and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to maintain performance expectations in psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources, and foresee & tackle problems in advance.
