Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Community Health Outreach Promoter will be responsible for the successful implementation of the health/hygiene promotion/education/awareness component of HEALTH in the target areas of International Medical Corps. The Community Health Outreach Promoter will work within the local community to promote engagement in health issues.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build partnership with key stakeholders and individuals in the community.
  • Liaise and coordinate with program staff for project implementation.
  • Carry out awareness-raising sessions and outreach activities to inform the community members about services.
  • Together with other staff members, facilitate and organize awareness sessions for communities on basics of health and key health activities conducted at the International Medical Corps health facilities in the community.
  • Will facilitate the community to pass their complaints to the management through CBFRM in a transparent manner.
  • Act in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner towards other colleagues & community.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Secondary School Certificate/ Matric
  • Previous work as Community Volunteer
  • Awareness about local culture and languages

Additional Technical or Language Requirements

  1. Monitoring the water trucking activities in IDP camps and HFs.
  2. Monitoring the water quality focusing FRC test for the available water in the IDP camps and HFs.
  3. Coordination and Supervision of the community solid waste management.
  4. In consultation with WASH manager plan, organize and evaluate the distribution of all WASH hygiene supplies/kits.
  5. Coordinate and participate in the training sessions, workshops, and mentoring programs to enhance knowledge and skills in community WaSH training and monitoring of CHN-HPs to strengthen the program's sustainability.
  6. Conducting monthly review meetings for the CHN-HPs.
  7. Collect the data of the HPs sessions from the CHN-HPs.
  8. Coordination and participation with WASH needs assessment.
  9. Raise a weekly progress report to WASH manager.
  10. Coordinate and collaborate with other stakeholders, such as local authorities, health workers, community leaders, and other humanitarian actors.
  11. Ensure the quality and adherence of the hygiene promotion activities to the standards and guidelines of Save the Children and other relevant agencies.
  12. Coordination and Supervision of the distribution of waste bins and IPC materials to the HFs.
  13. Support in the preparation and conducting of training for WMCs, other Community structures (SMCs, CHWs, CHEWs, Youth Groups) and local authorities.
  14. Collection, consolidation, and reporting of weekly hygiene and sanitation-related data.
  15. Submit Weekly (or when necessary) written reports.
  16. Support in the development of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and end-of-project reports.
  17. Support in the development, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH project indicators and standards.
  18. Maintain an up-to-date activity tracking tool (soft copies and hard copies) of all water supply, hygiene, and sanitation-related activities.
  19. Actively participate in inter-sectoral activities.
  20. Support the WASH department in other tasks, roles, and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.
