Position Title:  Referral Doctor
Location: Sana'a, Yemen. 
Employment Type: Full time. 
Contract Duration: End of Dec 2024

Background:

Qatar Red Crescent Society is a nonprofit organization, assists and empowers vulnerable communities within Qatar and around the world by offering life-saving assistance in emergencies, increasing disaster preparedness and resilience to future disasters, improving health care services, contributing to social rehabilitation and capacity building while preserving human dignity, Qatar Red Crescent is currently recruiting for the role of a Referral Doctor. 

Job Purpose: 

To provide competent patient-centred care that addresses health needs and promotes wellness. Such health care is based on the SoPs and guidelines of QRCS. This position will report to the Project Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing skilled health assessment, diagnosis and treatment services of various diseases of the human body to patients of all ages.
  • Ordering diagnostic tests as needed, checking and informing patients of results in a timely manner.
  • Prescribe medicines to patients and follow up the progress of the health condition of the patients.
  • Discuss and explain to the patient and his/her family the treatment plan and the medicines use.
  • Coordinate with any other doctors the patient might be seeing.
  • Referring patients appropriately to other specialists in coordination with the Referral Medical Doctor if their needs exceed the range of care available in the health centre or there is complications. 
  • Consulting and collaborating with colleagues to provide optimal care. 
  • Working constructively and harmoniously with other members of the centre’s team to ensure patients receive optimal care. 
  • Collaborating in regard to rosters development and providing cover to ensure patients’ needs are met. 
  • Documenting all the services provided and education/information given to patients within their health record, as QRCS SoPs · 
  • Counsel the family of the patient and educate them on the disease and its proper care.
  • Understanding and implementing the principle of health information confidentiality and privacy of the patient.
  • Providing services politely and respectfully, with regard to the cultural beliefs and needs of patients.
  • Reporting  to the Project Manager when detecting that patients or their families or the public are at significant risk, for example, new disease, infection, or new type of warms appear. 
  • Demonstrating a working knowledge of QRCS policy with regard to clinical practice as described in their manuals.
  • Any other duties requested from the Project Manager. 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in medicine.
  • One- to three-year residency at an accredited hospital where they are actively involved in patient treatment. 

Essential skills required: 

  • Personal qualities such as compassion, resourcefulness, stamina, motivation and perseverance.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and active listening and positive attitude.
  • The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
  • The ability to with irregular hours.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills for dealing with patients.
  • The ability to work under pressure, critical situations and deal with different demands.
  • Good IT skills for keeping patient records, and previous knowledge computerised patient management systems.
  • Excellent time-management to balance appointments with time of history taking and clinical examination.
