About SDF:

The Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF) is a non-governmental, voluntary, independent organization established in March 2015, officially registered at the Ministry of Social Affairs as per license (99). As SDF has been present in Yemen since 2015, it has experience implementing emergency child protection and education responses, including women and youth empowerment. SDF has experience in handling large grants from international donors, such as UNDP, UNHCR, WFP, OCHA, WHO, SCI and ZOA. The Foundation has excellent national-level relations and has experience in coordinating with both national and international NGOs. It has offices, staff and community-based committees in Hajjah, Sana'a, Marib, Ibb, Hudidah, Dhamar, Almahweet, Al-Bayda’a, a6nd Hadramout as well as solid experiences engaging with local communities from whom it gained acceptance and with whom it has collaborated in the past. In addition to that, SDF creates livelihood opportunities and community-based protection.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Three Psychologists (General protection) along with 1 Psychologist (GBV) and 1 Psychologist (Child protection) will be stationed in SDF’s coordination office in Albayda and they will also be mobile and they will be responsible for receiving the cases and providing psychosocial counselling, psycho-social support, case management, and referral to other service providers through the newly established/ pre-existing protection network and using the AoRs. Protection services that will be provided by the Psychologists and Social Workers are:

A. Psychologists (General protection)

• Conflict-affected IDPs and host communities receive psychosocial assistance
• through individual counselling or group therapy and MHPSS (Mental Health
• Psychological Social Support) sessions.
• Provide displaced as well as vulnerable host communities with psycho-social
• support in the form of individual or group counselling in order to manage the trauma and other emotional and psychological needs.
• Support existing referral pathways for further specialized assistance and services will also be established/supported with all relevant partners including Clusters, INGO, national NGOs, local authorities and public institutions

B. Psychologist (Child protection):

1 Psychologist or Social worker specializing in child protection case management will be recruited where he/she will be stationed in SDF’s coordination office in Albayda City and mobile based on the need on the field and will be responsible for receiving the child protection cases and providing child protection case

management, counselling, psycho-social support, and referral to other service providers through the established/ pre-existing protection network/service providers. other services include:

• Provide Critical Child Protection Services, including case management, tracing and reunification, and victim assistance, Case management
• Individual case management for specialized protection services (CP cash assistance).
• Covering Basic needs for cases if no service providers are available.
• Referral cost

C. Psychologist (GBV):

1 Psychologist or Social worker will be specializing in GBV management will be stationed in SDF’s coordination office in Albayda City and mobile will be

responsible for receiving the GBV cases and providing psychosocial counselling, psycho-social support, case management, and referral to other service providers through the established/ pre-existing protection network. other services are:

Conflict-affected IDPs and host communities who are at risk/survivors of GBV receive psychosocial assistance through individual counselling and MHPSS

(Mental Health Psychological Social Support) sessions.

• Provide displaced as well as vulnerable host communities who are at risk/survivors of GBV with psycho-social support in the form of individuals in order to manage the trauma and other emotional and psychological needs.
• Support existing referral pathways for further specialized assistance and services will also be established with all relevant partners including clusters,
• INGO, national NGOs, local authorities and public institutions.
• Individual case management for specialized protection services (GBV cash assistance).

Case Management is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating child for mental, emotional, behavioral, educational, and developmental disorders. A psychologist is a mental health professional in charge of performing psychoanalysis to diagnose mental illness and provide treatment for mental and behavioral issues. Their duties include conducting talk therapy with clients, writing referrals to other health professionals and performing mental health assessments to identify problems. He/She will devote 100% of his/her time. The unit cost salary included (net salary, income tax, social security 18%, life insurance, health insurance and other deduction).

• Conduct comprehensive case management for all identified cases of unaccompanied children, separated children, children at risk and children with disabilities. This includes but is not limited to:
• Conducting Best Interest Assessments (BIAs).
• Conducting regular and urgent home visits
• Verification and investigation of emergency cases related to child protection and collection of all documents related to the emergency in coordination with the UNHCR vocal point.
• Contribute to reporting on child protection trends from the field on a regular basis;
• Identifying shared accommodation for unaccompanied children as per the agreed criteria with UNHCR;
• Referrals of children to other active partners and services providers when needed.
• Work as a GBV/SGBV focal point with regular basis monitoring, referral, and follow up.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly plans.
• Proper archiving of all related child protection documents of each case.
• Keep close and good coordination with CBPN, host community, and local authorities on child protection-related issues.
• Co-organize and facilitate where possible the child protection related trainings and write the final training reports.
• Co-prepare the units periodic reports (weekly, monthly, semi-annual.
•  Document and report the challenges faced during the implementation of the child protection activities in addition to the success stories.
• Analyze the situation and actively participate in developing protection system.
•  Conduct family tracing for UAC/ SC children.
• Abiding the Code of Conduct for the employees of child protection, and also to abide by the administrative regulations of the Foundation for Sustainable Development (SDF).
• Liaise with logistic and finance departments to ensure protection activities have the required resources at time, and complete and keep records of the necessary paperwork.
• Plans and develops -appropriate activities to teach art, music, colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and motor skills; develop activities for Child-friendly space.
• Perform any other duties as requested by supervisor and the officer.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree in Social Psychology, Social Work, Education, Psychology, or related Field. 
• 3 years of experience in international development/ humanitarian assistance programs, preferably in an emergency context.
•  Knowledge of operations of local and international NGOs.
• Field experience and a solid understanding of psychosocial / protection issues in such a context (general protection, CP and GBV).
• Experience in team management and staff capacity building.
• Extensive training experience.
• Demonstrated training materials development experience.
• Previous work experience in refugee/IDP settings, complex emergencies, and/or post-conflict / disaster situations.
