Contract Duration: 6 Months (renewable)

Job Description

Overall Objective:

Under the technical supervision of the MHPSS Project Manager and the line management of the TFC medical team leader, the MBC Nurse will ensure the provision of activities within the Mother and Baby Corner in the OTP/SC/HF. This includes performing mother & child activities, collaborating with health/nutrition staff to integrate MBC activities within the HF/SC, and monitoring and reporting regularly to the base office through the medical officer and coordination team through the MHPSS manager.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Promote, protect, and advocate for optimal Health and Nutrition practices through the implementation of MIYCN activities.
  • Perform activities within the MBC with mothers and babies.
  • Contribute to the development of MBC activities and their inclusion within the SC/HF with the support of MHPSS Project Manager.
  • Ensure day-to-day monitoring of the overall activity and provide regular reports to Base and coordination offices.
  • Participate in capacity building and supervision sessions led by the MHPSS Manager.
  • Entertain children and mothers at the MBC center and ensure psychological support.

Specific Goals and Related Activities:

Implementation of the Mother and Baby Corner’s activities

  • Welcome beneficiaries and provide systematic individual consultations with new beneficiaries.
  • Provide day-to-day psychosocial activities (including mother & child group activities and provide PFA & PSS if needed).
  • Actively participate in the design of MBC activities according to beneficiary needs and feasibility.
  • Perform activities in accordance with international Care Practices standards: Baby bath, baby massage, playing sessions with mothers and infants, etc.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Daily data collection and monitoring of beneficiary participation and satisfaction at the MBC.
  • Regular meetings with MHPSS Project Manager for technical support.
  • Provide progress activity reports to the base office and coordination on a regular basis.

Communication

  • Ensure the MBC's visibility within the OTP/SC/HF.
  • Promote MBC activities to beneficiaries.
  • Update line manager or technical manager on key challenges and suggest solutions.

Education Degree (Diplomas and/or certificates)

  • Trained nurse /  paramedical professional with experience in Nutrition and( IYCF/CMAM/ MIYCN )
  • Psychosocial support training / background 
  • Traind on community Nutrution MIYCN counceling.

At least 2 years of experience as a nurse or paramedic post-graduation.

 

1 year of work in the humanitarian context

  • Knowledge on nutrition and feeding practices, especially MIYCN/ IYCF

  • Knowledges on psychosocial support in emergency setting 
  • Previous experience in nutrition program is an asset (OTP, SC, TSFP, etc.)
  • Previous experience in the humanitarian sector is an asset
