Purpose:
The Cook provides quality and timely cooking services at ICRC premises.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Functional Responsibilities:
ACTUAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Prepares meals (strictly respecting hygiene principles), with minimum food waste (uses older items first).
- Orders/purchases and manages stocks of food and non-food (e.g. cooking gas, etc.).
- Ensures cooking equipment is in good condition (safe for use) and that the kitchen and canteen/dining hall are cleaned after each use (respecting hygiene rules).
- Informs his/her hierarchical superior of any problems (broken/faulty material, etc.).
Cleaning
- Provides cleaning/housekeeping/laundry services at ICRC premises.
- Performs tasks at the office or residence per monthly roaster.
- Informs his/her supervisor about any issues regarding the premises (materials needed to carry out duties, malfunctioning equipment, damaged furniture or premises, etc.).
- Supports maintenance, logistics and other colleagues in a variety of manual tasks when assigned to the office.
- Respects and ensure the privacy of Mobile staff in the ICRC residence and in particular in their rooms
Certifications/Education Required
- Primary school education.
- Basic knowledge of English.
Professional Experience Required
- 2 years' work experience in a similar field of activity.
- Knows and applies kitchen/cooking hygiene principles.
