HSSE Officer

1. Identification

• Job Title: HSSE Officer
• Location: Ibb

2. Overall Purpose:
The Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Officer plays a critical role in promoting and maintaining a safe, secure, and environmentally responsible work environment within TYF's projects in Ibb and Taiz. This position is responsible for implementing health, safety, security, and environmental policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, providing training, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

3. Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Health and Safety Management:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and non-compliance issues.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on health and safety matters, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
• Security Management:
  • Develop and implement security protocols and procedures to safeguard company assets, personnel, and information.
  • Conduct security risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
  • Monitor security systems, such as access control, CCTV, and alarm systems, and respond to security incidents as necessary.
  • Coordinate with external security agencies and law enforcement authorities as needed.
• Environmental Management:
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards, including waste management, pollution prevention, and environmental permits.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and develop strategies to minimize the organization's environmental footprint.
  • Implement environmental awareness programs and initiatives to promote sustainability and responsible resource use.
• Training and Education:
  • Develop and deliver health, safety, security, and environmental training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Provide ongoing education and awareness on HSSE policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of safety, security, and environmental stewardship throughout the organization.
• Compliance and Reporting:
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and industry standards related to health, safety, security, and environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to HSSE activities, including incident reports, inspection findings, and training records.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports and compliance documentation as required.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Proven experience in health, safety, security, and environmental management, preferably in a similar industry or setting.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations, standards, and best practices related to HSSE.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct risk assessments and develop effective mitigation strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Certification in relevant HSSE disciplines (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO 45001) is desirable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HSSE management software.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
